Rumors abound on the Internet - and the Harry Potter books and films are certainly no exception. But just remember that rumors are just that - rumors - until confirmed.
Keeping that in mind, two rumors regarding the movie version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which isn't due out until 2007, are currently making the rounds.
According to Contactmusic News, if you were worried that the irreplaceable trio of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, along with bad boy Tom Felton, were in danger of, well, being replaced by the time Order of the Phoenix gets rolling, fret no more.
Harry Potter lead actor Daniel Radcliffe has been signed up to star in the fourth and fifth installments of the magical movie adaptations.
Alongside Harry, fellow teenage stars Emma Watson - playing Hermione, Rupert Grint - playing Ron, and Tom Felton - playing Draco, have also been confirmed as definites.
The problem is that Contactmusic News is by no means in a position to officially confirm anything - plus they didn't bother to quote a source in their article - so take this news with a grain of salt for now.
And thanks to MuggleNet for pointing to another interesting rumor: if you're wondering who Warner Bros. is going to tap to direct Order of the Phoenix, then look no further than IMDb's Order of the Phoenix webpage, which lists Stuart Baird as the director. If you're curious about Baird's other work, he's also directed Star Trek: Nemesis, U.S. Marshals, and Executive Decision.
Again, keep in mind that IMDb is not in a position to officially confirm this type of news.
But it does make for some interesting speculation in the meantime ...

| Even if it is a rumour it's a good one!
I would love to see the same cast throughout, a big commitment it is for the stars, so lets just hope they can stick with it for their fans sake anyway. :sorcerer: |

| You don't really change dramatically from the ages of 17 and 20 anyway, it shouldn't be a problem. |

| Anyone know what happened to that rumour of Daniel and Bonnie Wright playing young James and young Lily in the OotP movie. Still early stages but that rumour lasted a few days and just vanished! |

| i really hope these rumors are true! that would be absolutely wonderful! don't you think? the trio and malfoy/felton staying 'til the 7th book. yay!! :sorcerer: and this director they mentioned seems pretty cool, but it seems unlikely that they have already picked a director for a movie that doesn't come out 'til 2007. |

| | | A lot more than just physical appearance changes between the ages of 17 and 20. Will they even want to continue doing these movies four years from now or will they be ready to move on to different things? Even though I love the cast as it is, I don't really like seeing twenty somethings playing teenagers. And, let's face it, in today's Hollywood no on is irreplaceable. | |

| | | [color=green]To all those who acually know what is going on in the movie world should be ensured that the 4 actors in question have signed a contract for the 5th movie and it already has a directer Stuart Baird :sorcerer: | |

| I really hope they make all the films.
I hope Rupert and Emma still play Ron and Hermione regardless their age. So if OOTP is going to made in to a film and GOF too that sounds great!
Rupert and Emma biggest fan!

| I thought that it was confirmed that the kids were going to be in the 4rth and 5th movies.
I don't know about this director though, I love Star Trek, but I wasn't a fan of Nemesis. I guess it doesn't really matter all that much who the director is though, does it? They've got good material to work with. They can't screw it up too badly.

| Also, about the ages:
It won't matter that much how old they really are. They usually have older actors play younger parts anyway, expecially in teenage roles. Michael J. Fox played a 16 year old when he was 23 (or so). You really can't tell a difference on camera.
Remember, Snape is supposed to be about 36 didn't JK say and how old is Alan Rickman? About 57 if I recall. If people are going to complain about a big age difference, complain about that! hehe
