Order of the Phoenix, Dan Radcliffe & Emma Watson win National Movie awards
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix walked away from the National Movie Awards with an award for Best Family Film whilst Daniel Radcliffe won recognition for his work with a Best Actor award! Emma Watson was also honoured with a gong for Best Actress.
CONGRATULATIONS!
The awards will broadcast tomorrow night on ITV1. Don't forget to watch! If anyone happens to get the video, let us know!
In the meantime, you can view pictures of the cast (Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Evanna Lynch, Matthew Lewis & Bonnie Wright) & crew (David Yates, David Heyman & David Barron) arriving here and images of them in the media room here.
Winner Daniel Radcliffe gave two VIDEO interviews. One was prior to the ceremony on the red carpet, and then the other was after his win with the classy Helen Mirren! Go watch it now!
Winner Emma Watson contributed her own VIDEO interview before the ceremony on the red carpet. She held herself very well, saying that she was "terrified" and "really thrilled" to be nominated with other big names, declared she "genuinely did not prepare a speech," and when asked about Rupert and Daniel going against each other, she said "That would be awful if one of them wins! Um, but no, it would be good if one of them wins, but also like...(she cocks her head nervously). But I'm sure they'll be happy for each other." After she won, she insisted: "I can honestly, honestly say I didn't. I didn't dare to dream. I'm absolutely amazed and thrilled." Go watch it now! or below:
Furthermore, the charming Rupert Grint also gave a short VIDEO interview of his own before the event on the red carpet, smiling knowingly and declaring that he had "no chance" of winning in the Best Actor category, but declared it would be "a good night." He also talks briefly about Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. After the award ceremony, Rupert had this to say about losing to Dan: "Obviously I didn't expect to win, because I think Dan deserves it more than me." Go watch it now!
Wow that's awesome! To be nominated in the same category as people like Johnny Depp and Judi Dench and beat them is awesome! And I must say, the trio did an awesome job with OoTP. They've grown so much as actors.
listen and you can hear the distant sounds
of someone humming a familiar song
the sounds of raindrops echo across the horizon
and shoot your wish up to the sky
Rupert is so sweet! i love dan, i do but how can people always keep voting for him when there's someone like Rupert!? congrats all the same
I agree. He's always humble and sweet and realistic. Despite the fact that I think Rupert is more talented than Dan, Rupert realizes that since Dan is more high-profile than he is, his chance of winning were slim. I have a lot of respect for Rupert.
I hope that the Potter films will use him more in the sixth and seventh films. He was phenominal in Driving Lessons, but it was a small project, and not everyone got to see it. He was absolutely outstanding in it! [It was admitted that December Boys wouldn't have had such press about it if Dan hadn't been in it. Also, I think Equus's revival wouldn't have been as big a deal if Dan hadn't been in it either, so...we have to keep that in perspective.]
This, however, does not take away from Dan's win. The people voted for him, and I'm glad that he won. Good for him! I just wish Rupert got the credit he deserves once in a while, that's all.
I love Rupert. I really do. And I think it must be incredibly hard for him to always come second to Dan...I wonder if he ever really feels like Ron because of it-in the fourth book, Ron was angry because he felt he was always coming in second to Harry...
But congratulations to Emma and Dan, and especially OOTP...I have to agree with everything Shannon said up there, though.
