thats all very nice, but I wonder still why they dont allow americans to be in the films. Plus age is a restriction to. I'm much to old to be a student. but its for a cause I figure. but sounds like a bunch of rich parents getting together to try to get their children in the film. I also am skeptical of the ' funraisers' like LiVe 8. I hope its not corrupted so money seems to leak out and go missing, because africa and places of need dont have the best orgaization and restrictions on these..even if they are overseen by the U.s. and U.k.

I'd love to be in the film. even just to be looking at the set would be beyound words. But alas... I am an American.... and I'm not blessed like that. grrrrrrr

Extras can be of all ages; think of Diagon Alley, Grimmauld Place, the Hospital - there are scenes where extras would be required other than Hogwarts. And even there there are teachers which are unnamed.

It makes little sense to fly over foreign actors and accomodate them when there are plenty already here who are fit and able to do the job. It's just like a painter hiring an assistant; he's not about to hire someone from Italy (for example) if he's working in Chesire. It's just impractical especially since extras are paid so little; the worker wouldn't effectively earn anything because their wages would be paying for the transport and accomodation (if they came from abroad).

You have to be the correct nationality, yes - it's not just British people, but French and Bulgarians who are also in the films because of GoF.

But being British doesn't mean you can get in easy. Only local people are selected to be extras, from schools and local clubs. It's by no means a nationwide selection.

wow, thats awesome! i wonder what they would do if the person who won was really bad at acting? I guess it wouldn't matter that much since its a very small role, but still. maybe the part has a contract. probably.

Sigh! If only.. I'd do anything for a role. But i'd never afford it.
It always came into my head that they seemed chose extras from prestigious schools, drama societies and relatives of the crew. You know all those ones that have connections and get to visit the set cause they have a relative that works there or something. I dont think I fall into any of them so I assumed from the very beginning that I would never have a chance of becoming one.

LOL I bet that role will raise tons of money! That's great! Scotland, though. Well, it's just a walk-on role. I'd be surprised if more than a strand of hair from the bidder shows up in the actual movie, but you never know.

ah but you see, it's not about the role. it's about the fact that you're meeting (or at least you're in the presence of) all the harry potter stars and cast and crew!!! and you are [i]on the set[i]!!!!

What's the point of auctioning off a walk on role? They've excluded 99.9% of people who would want a walk on part because of those that are actually in the UK, how many can afford to put some major cash on something like this? Not very many I'd guess. Does anyone else find something majorly wrong with this? Like they're trying to say that only rich people deserve to get good things? An average Joe or Jane can't be in Harry Potter but it's like "If you give us X amount of Dollars you can walk infront of the camera, heck, we'll even turn it on while you do it."
