Actually, it's not about the money anymore. We have the money to achieve the goal. The aim now is to convince world leaders to do something about it, because they can. Quote:
It always came into my head that they seemed chose extras from prestigious schools, drama societies and relatives of the crew.
They actually choose kids from local schools and clubs. I'm British, still doesn't mean you can get in the films. You have to live near filming. Quote:
Why not here in the US?
This was question was already answered. Two words; G8 Summit.

*tries not to laugh too hard* You mean you're trying to convince the world's leaders to do something that won't line their pockets? Good Luck with that.
I think it's sad that in the richest countries, in the richest cities, in the world that there are people living on the streets, or sleeping on friend's couches etc, because they can't afford to even rent a place to live while the world leaders live in pure luxury. But I suppose that is a topic for another forum.

Well, trying is better than not trying. Apathy is lethal after all. Though I've little faith in those 8 men. Quote:

I agree. Makes you wonder, if this is the mess they make of home, what will they do abroad? But trying and failing is better than not trying at all, in my book.
The property ladder is almost impossible to get on in this country now - people are living at home into their late 20's because they can't get a mortage. Quote:

Rich people wear the bands too - all attendees did. But of course they want to raise as much as possible. There are competitions for normal people -- they were numerous for GoF set visits and interviews with cast & JK, both for Brits & Yanks.

^We're not all Yanks you know, I live in Arizona! jk I know it's slang.
I'd never be able to afford the money to be a contender on one of those auctions. Though I'd love to be apart of all the Hogwarts action.

The property ladder is almost impossible to get on in this country now - people are living at home into their late 20's because they can't get a mortage. Yes, I suppose that trying is the important thing. I'm just a little upset about the whole poverty thing because those that can help, hardly do anything, and those who want to help, are rarely in the position where they are able to. In response to the property thing: It's really hard to get 'affordable' housing in Canada. I currently pay $450 plus Hydro Monthly for rent. I lucked out. I actually live in a fairly small city and I live downtown next to a bar... the same sort of apartment in a 'nicer' part of town would be $500 - $600 or more monthly (plus hydro). And, of course, I'm renting so what do I get in 10 years if I stay here? The privilege of living here for 10 years. With a mortgage you do eventually own the house at least.

I totally agree. That's the most frustrating thing about it all.

I for once in my life like to be British so that I would be allowed to auction for HP movies but I'm an American. It would be soooo cool to be an extra though. oh well I can dream and just dream. Good luck to the one that gets the spot. |
