| | | OotP open auditions 'unlikely' CBBC Newsround reports that it is 'unlikely' that there'll be any open auditions to find actors for the fifth film, ' Order of the Phoenix', which is sheduled to start casting in the Autumn and will start filming in January of 2006. Quote:
The script won't be finalised for months, so at the moment it's unclear whether characters like Luna Lovegood will make it into the movie.
Quote:
A spokesperson for Warner Bros. told CBBC Newsround: "We don't automatically do open casting calls."
"We only do them when it's particularly challenging to find the correct person for a particular part."
That's why open casting sessions were held for the Patil twins, and for Cho Chang.
It was very difficult finding young actresses with the right appearance through acting agencies.
Quote:
In the case of characters like Luna Lovegood or Michael Corner - if they're not cut from the film - it's almost certain they'd be filled without the need for open casting calls.
CBBC also have a picture of Henry Lloyd-Hughes, who will play Roger Davies in ' Goblet of Fire'. Roger is the Ravenclaw quidditch captain and takes Fleur Delacour, played by Clémence Poésy, to the Yule Ball.
The picture of him, which can be seen here is of him in the BBC TV drama, The Rotter's Club.

Then she should get an agent if she's that into acting. After all, I think it is common sense that they'd go through agents first before inviting the public to audition. They also wanna make sure they get people who actually want to be actors and who want to act rather than just people who want to be in HP and who constantly stare at the camera.
Personally, I don't see how or why they'd cut Luna. Her role is just as important/unimportant (whichever way you view it) as Neville and Ginny's. I don't think they would cut her. If they did, then surely that'd call for the cutting of Tonks' character, seeing as she's even less important than Luna?
I can see why Michael might be cut. He can simply be referred to without us ever having to actually see him but Luna has quite a hefty part. I don't see how they can cut the supporting child cast.

^ Yes, she does. More importantly, she's the first one who talks about (however briefly) Sirius' death with Harry. No doubt, they have to contact Jo when cutting characters, I think she'd advise them against it on this score. They've included kids with smaller roles before - like Myrtle, Dean, Seamus - so why not Luna?

^ Yeah you're right Emma, they would have to contact JK first so she probably won't be cut, which is very good.

I agree that Luna is too important a character to cut, and she is also a favorite of JKR! So if she has the last word, then I doubt that will happen!

any ideas on how to get an agent? Look through the Yellow Pages (or a similar phone book) and look around. The one important thing is to NEVER pay an agent before they get you work. She should do it with her parents just to be careful; there are alot of people out there who try to scam young hopefuls out of their money, for example I looked into joining an Extras Agency before, but they wanted me to give them money prior to them getting me work despite the golden rule that you never pay them before they get you work. So yeah, she'll have to careful and sensible, but best of luck to her. Quote:

I think they will. David Heyman recently said they consult Jo over any 'substancial' changes. For example, they consulted her about the house-elf thing, which, in comparison to a character, isn't as big. So they'd definitely consult her first, if not for reassurance of how important her character will be in the future, but then because Heyman seems to hold alot of respect for Rowling. He's nice like that.

As for Heyman's respect for Rowling - well, now we can't help but like him!
I would have liked to be Tonks... but I can still dream until the movie actually comes out!
Thanks, Emma!

Lol yeah he is. I'm almost 100 percent sure that if he talked to JK about cutting Luna out of the film, she'd be agaist it so I'm not all that worried about it anymore .

| Yes I agree with you “Marcella Riddle”. Also I think in a way they (producers) are waiting for book 6 to make sure that Luna is going to be an important character in future book, I don’t think they are going to cut her out of the film, I think she is important “in a way” for the plot of the movie. Even tho JKR has a close relationship with David H. she won’t give a way the plots of her future books, that is why they (producer) are going to wait to see what role Luna is going to play in future books. |

I'm actually rather horrified with the CBBC, in a way. It's not like them to sensationalise things like this. It's highly unlikely she'll be cut and there's better examples they could've used like Marietta Edgecombe or Michael Corner.
Yeah Jo doesn't give anything away (except to Alan Rickman, *pokes him*) but she'll most likely lead them in the right direction, like she did with the house-elf thing.
I can understand the predicament though; they'd have to spend a segment of the film introducing her character and that would use up time, as would the character development, even if that isn't currently a strong point in the films. But like many others have said, her role is too big to be cut.
Although, I am extremely biased; she's my favourite character after Ron!

^ Do you know what? You read my mind! He does look similar to Christian Coulson, but in my humble opinion, Christian is far better looking!

New talent isn't necessary. Many small-time actors have agents too. It just seems sensible to go for the professionals before the amateurs. *shrugs*

yeah and no to that because when i was an actor i couldnt afford a agent and i lost out on a few parts because if it. so they are good and bad sides to it.

But like they said, if they can find someone professionally then that's better than having to see thousands upon thousands of kids, most of which, probably couldn't act to save their lives and just wanted to go because of HP.
*pets Kaz*
After all, that is what agents and casting agencies are for; for casting directors to find suitable actors for roles in an effecient and relatively speedy manner.
Gosh, I sound like a dictionary!
But I didn't think you paid an agent until they get you work; at least that was the Golden Rule, or so I was told.
