| | | OotP casting 'not yet underway'
Another rumour that the actress, Geraldine Somerville, will be replaced for ' Order of the Phoenix' has emerged. An Italian magazine claimed an American actress would replace her.
This is not true. Casting for OotP has not started yet and there's no reason to believe that any future actors won't be British - unless stated otherwise in the books.
This is similar to another rumour that was going around - that was also debunked by WB - claiming both Geraldine (Lily) and Adrian Rawlins (James) would be replaced by Romola Garai and Christien Anholt.

I suppose. I don't mean it disrespectfully. After all, I'm a huge fan and I really admire him. But he is getting on, we have to face facts girlies. Quote:
he does make Snape look older i cant se anyone else doing it. but uin the same breath lilly and james in the films look way to old after all they were 21 when they died the look middle aged in the films.
That's true. I'm only a few years from 21 and I can more than say for sure I won't look as mature as they do when I do reach 21. I think Geraldine and Adrian are in their 30's.

I agree that he is getting older..., but it just wouldnt be the same without the 'first' people. Like Dumbledoor. I no they HAD to replace him but hes still not that same old Dumbledoor.

It would be really weird to go and see an HP movie and not see Tom, Dan, Rupert, or Emma's face. It just wouldn't seem right! I'd probably run out of the theater bawling, yelling "Nooooo!!! I want Dan back!"
I understand that they're all getting older and it's harder to make them look like the ages the characters really are. But still it would just be so weird. It was weird enough that they changed Dumbledore's on us, even though I realize they had no choice or say in the matter. It would just be so sad to see all the original cast go!

I must say there are alot of actors who are in their late twenties playing teens, so they should have no problem staying. For example for Teens who watch stuff on the WB network... (I dont any more) there is small ville... where a actor whos 28 plays a 18 year old... same goes for a lot of shows and movies... I hope they stay, unless they do one heck or a recasting lookalike job, b/c to change would not be a good move.... in my opinion, I love the movies and would see them no matter what, but this cast is PERFECT!!!

I would be fine if they finished making the HP films really. It just would not be the same with differnt actors. As far as age goes, people in their twenties always play characters in their teens. So makeup can help them not look too old.

| i hope everyone stays on for OotP-it would be bad if characters left cause they work really well together. it was weird enough with the dumbledore change but there was no way to control that |

i hope all of the cast stays for the last three films; it wouldn't be the same without them! i don't really care about their ages since it doesn't really matter to me. to be honest i never knew how old the twins were until this recent birthday xP

Alan DOES make Snape look older, but definitely not 59. I'd say Snape looks about 50 in the films. Even though they plaster him in make-up it still doesn't hide the fact that he's aging now (please don't hate me guys!) and the fact that he appeared to have been tucking into alot of pies in one particular scene where he catches Harry in the corridor. He looked far more rounded in the stomach area.
LOL! Yea I did notice Alan packing it in some but hey, you've got to give the guy some credit, he still looks great. (Is it wrong that I'm seventeen and I fancy a fifty nine year old?) Anyway some people look better when they age, sexier in my opinion. Oh geezes I'm losing it! Quote:
but i think he is doing it gracefully.. even if he does make Snape look older i cant se anyone else doing it.
I would totally freak if they replaced Alan, I would cry!
Changing any of the cast at this particular moment when we are in the middle of the series wouldn't be that good of an idea, because the fans (including me) will feel different about it. It would be like getting to know another person all over again.

Yea! Lily and James do look older in the films. But Alan Rickman is perfect for snape. I never even knew he was in his very late fifties till i found out from this site itself |

*gasps* How can you say that. *pets Alan* don't listen to anything the mean girl says, you aren't 'getting on'.
LOL. I know he's getting older... I know he's 'older' to begin with (I'm only 21, major difference there) but I try not to think about it... and he has aged well

I don't think re-casting is an option. It's either the current trio or nothing. WB wouldn't waste money making films with new kids that wouldn't make them a profit. Quote:

Wont filming be easier once they all hit 18 because there wont be any Child Labor Laws to uphold. That need to stay on, it's all or nothing...

That's when kids can leave school here. Tom and Rupert have finished. Once Dan finishes this Summer and Emma next Summer then filming of films 5-7 can speed up quite a bit.

The faster they can get the filming done, the younger the actors will be, the more convincing their proformances, and so on.
I really hope they don't replace the actors, however I can see the reasoning behind it... while lots of people over twenty play teens, not all of them are so convincing. We don't know how the actors will age, so it's obviously a concern. But even though older actors would be less realistic, hving completely new ones would ruin everything, and then I'd cry (especially if they replace Rupert... )
