The Official back cover artwork for the US edition of ' Half-Blood Prince' has been released. Scholastic have also released some information to confirm who features on the cover.

The back cover depicts Ron and Hermione as well as two other Hogwarts students looking at "the Dark Mark". Drawn in the same green tones as the front cover, GrandPre has created another incredible piece of art that captures the essence and mystery of the Harry Potter books.

I think the ones other than Ron and Hermione are Ginn and Neville. Their importance has increased immensely since OOTP, so we're bound to see much more of them.
Perhaps this could mean Voldemort will now attack Hogwarts? That's definately Hogwarts in the background.

Didn't JK say that Neville already had a big part? In any case, that doesn't look anything like Neville, IMO. He looks darker than the others, dramatically. There is such a difference I don't think that it's the shadow that's making him dark.

I thought the person behind Ron resembled Cho Chang. Definitely looks like Hogwarts to me. Perhaps Asda were right, perhaps Voldemort DOES return to Hogwarts thereby putting pupils in danger.

I don't know. They must have got it from somewhere. Although as a lot of people said, it could just be an assumption. A lot of places refer to Hogwarts when what they really mean is the magical world.

I'm quite sure that they are Ron,Hermione and Ginny in the front ...but that person in the back could be Neville but also Dean Thomas I think.
Dean because he and Ginny are together at the end of OotP and Neville brcause he's important with all this prophecy stuff.

I think that the persons are Ron, Hermione and Ginny and the one behind Ron is Luna..I think she looks like a girl more. OHH! Will the dark mark be on Hogwarts?? So, If this happen , there will be one who will die from the school. I don't want to think in Dumbledore..really, I can't wait for the book. This back cover made me wanting to read the book now.

Lots of things I noticed when I keep looking at this picture (which I was the first to post both versions in the other thread. *cough, cough*  )
Obviously that is Hogwarts. There are a *bunch* of students behind R/Hr. I think we can assume that's Ginny next to R/Hr. And if it is, does she have an important part in HBP? Who is that behind them? It's obviously someone of some importance to be on the back cover, but who? Are they dark complected, or is is just that they're drawn in the shadows and thus appear to be that way? They are a bit feminine, so I'm assuming it's a girl rather than a guy. What is that green mist? And why does Ron have purple lines on him? And I love that Hermione is looking a bit frightened while Ron looks determined.
