| | | No Mrs Weasley in GoF Julie Walters recently gave an interview to The Express discussing her role, or lack thereof, in the fourth Potter film, 'Goblet of Fire'. She explains Molly Weasley will not feature in the film adaptation and tells the reason she was given by the producers of the film. Quote:
"To be honest, I was a bit hurt not to be in it, " the affable 54-year-old tells us. "The kids love the Harry Potter films so much and I get lots of mail about it."I can understand why they've had to pare down the film as the book is so long but I am really hoping I'll be in again for the next one."
Quote:
"With such a sizeable book it's not possible to include all scenes and all characters", says a spokesman for the film. "That is not to say that we won't see characters returning in future films."
Quote:
Asked whether she favours a campaign to re-instate her in the next Potter flick, she smiles sweetly: "Oh yes - do start one."

But not entirely necessary. We all know the Durlseys were cut so Harry willhave the dream, wake up at the Burrow and then they'll most likely make their way straight to the QWC - Molly never actually goes there in the book. Her only other scenes are greeting Harry when he's been chosen, a scene which isn't really important, coming to watch Harry and then the emotional hug at the end which can easily be done by Sirius.
As much as I love Julie & Molly, there's very little harm done so long as she is back for OotP when her role is more important at Grimmauld Place.
We may still hear what Molly thinks of Hermione. As much as they like to make her seem perfect, there's no way they can do GoF without her being referred to as a 'scarlet woman', that's just classic. If my memory serves me right, it's Ron who says that's what his mum thinks of her and she displays it through a small easter egg in comparison to the others, so Julie's absence won't have much of an impact on that.

^ What's worse, cutting Molly or cutting something more important to keep her in? You have to think of these things in perspective. It's a film, not everything can be kept. It's unfortunate but it's not disastorous.

We all know that it's better than cut some thing important. But Mrs Weasley is important and instead of putting a scence that wasn't compeletly in the movie, they put Mrs Weasley with Harry

then again it stank worse whn chris didnt
insert nick's deathday party..
and whn alfonso didnt put cho in it (unless my eyes
were deceiving, when ron n herm fighting over scabbers being dead
at the courtyard harry, trailing behind them, smiled briefly at the
girls sitting on the fountain! that's got to be her!)
but anyway, that's what happens whn u turn books into movies.

If Daniel, Emma and Rupert dont continue onto the next three films whats the chance of the other previous HP actor/actresses coming back for future films? It would seem abit odd with a different trio and the same other characters. But i hope they all continue, they all work well together.

But in the great scheme of things, that one scene as much as it shows her maternal love for him, it isn't direly paramount. I think we should count ourselves lucky that Sirius didn't get the chop.

who can blame them... But Nick's party and Cho weren't essential to the plot. Cho is being included in GoF because that's when her role becomes more important, they need to show her now ready for OotP when they have that disaster of a 'relationship'. They were just frills that granted might've looked good on screen but weren't necessary.
They can never please everyone, it'd just be impossible.

It wasn't Cho. Katie Leung is cast in her role and she was not in PoA. It was probably just an extra. I can imagine alot of them smile at him.

Yeah, Julie Walters is fantastic, and I'm sad she won't be in the 4th film, but at least there's no way they could write her out of OotP, not with what happens to Mr Weasley.

| What the....
The third movie disapointed me but you would think they were trying to provide more disapointment with each one! I mean... They're cutting out the Ton-tongue-toffee thing! Honestly they could make the friggen thing take up more than one tape!!!

Not ALL scenes but you could at least keep the important onese.

it's a shame that she isn't in the film, however with WB refusing to budge on the films length because they think all Potter fans are 7 and they are determined to drive the franchise into the ground, certain sacrifises have to be made. At the end of the day, Molly is expendable from this film. She doesn't actually do anything of any value.
Sadly she isn't of any real value to this films plot, i would def, like Emma said rather have her back for OOTP.

| | Guest | I dont care what any of you say, Mrs. Weasley is not expendable, how long could her parts have taken up not even 5 minutes of film??? When Harry comes into the room and sees bill and mrs weasley there for him like his family, i feel thats saying something, and an important part, because as more as the books go on she loves harry more and more, i dont know i think its stupid they cut her out.

| | Guest | Also they cut percy which i think is really dumb also because him doing mr crouch's job because he was "sick" and him going to the yule ball and second task showed it fishy bout mr crouch, also it starts to show how percy is getting jerkier and jerkier as the book goes on because hes a MAJOR jerk in book 5, then what im most upset about is one of my favorite parts in the GoF wont be happening, because percy is not in the movie, My favorite part is when Percy says "I shudder to think what the state of my in-tray would be if I was away from work for 5 days." Then Fred says "Yeah someone might slip dragon dung in it again eh perce" then percy says "That was a sample from Norway!" "It was nothing personal", Then fred says "It was, we sent it" LMAO! I know it isnt an important part, but still its one of the best parts in my opinion in the book. | |
