| | | New Tom Felton Interview
Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) talked about the Hogsmeade scenes and his character in an interview conducted midway through Prisoner of Azkaban filming. The interview was featured on a special DVD that was only available for purchase in Australia. To download the video, click here.
To read a transcript, click here (scroll down a bit). Quote: Tom Felton - Draco Malfoy ON HIS FAVOURITE SCENE
In this film there were quite a few scenes I enjoyed filming. Probably my favourite, which is a new experience for me altogether, was in Hogsmeade (well, in the film, not in real life). It was an indoor snow set, and I'd never been on or seen indoor snow so to speak, so it was fun. And it was a new experience being in the fake snow while being very hot and sort of sweating in the snow. It's a bit of a daunting experience. It was fun, we had a laugh. ON HIS CHARACTER
Well, Draco himself has matured (slightly). He's still very a annoying, frustrating, little child. I think because of the scene in the second film where my dad and I are in Borgin and Burkes, which got cut out in the final cut, but I think it explains a lot why Draco is acting like this to people who have popularity or people who have better things than him and such. I think during the film, he just opens up more and more about how and why he is like this. It's a good never-ending story why Draco is like how he is.

That scene must've been fun, I thought it was funny... now I understand why Draco is like he is... I feel bad for him now

| Interresting. I have always liked Tom as he seems like a genuine person with all the things he does for his fans and that. I was watching Anna and the King the other night on BBC1 only due to the fact that he was in it. It seems to me that he believes that there is something more to do with the way that Draco is that could maybe make people be more sympathetic towards Draco in the sense that it is not really his fault. Ok that came out rather confusingly (cant spell).

That's really interesting. They cut a scene in Borgin and Burkes? I wonder if we'd be able to track it down and watch it.......

^ Yes, it was on the CoS DVD. He was on about CoS at that bit.
I think Tom has the wrong grip on the character. Draco is the way he is because of his choices, as Dumbledore would say. His dad hardly made him say "You're dead Potter" in OotP.
Then again, Tom hasn't read the books.

Well yeah Draco made choices... but would he have made them if he was raised differently?

He didn't want it to interfere with what the director was telling him about the character, or something... he explained it in an artical once... I wonder if he just doesn't like reading?

| you have shattered my perfect image of tom! i can't believe he hasnt read the books. but I do think he's right about draco. The classic bully is jealous of other people so he acts out against them.
