| | | New Radcliffe & Newell Interview
The new issue of Entertainment Weekly has a small interview with Dan Radcliffe and Mike Newell. It talks briefly about ' Goblet of Fire' and the preparation work that's going into ' Order of the Phoenix'.
The article also mentions that the fourth film will be shown to WB executives sometime in the next few weeks and that Dan Radcliffe wishes to continue playing Harry in the fifth film. Quote:
"I'm terribly pleased with the film," says director Mike Newell.
In two weeks, Newell will screen his work (minus completed special effects) for Warner Bros. brass for the first time.
Nervous? "Of course!" he says. "This is a story where the kids [are] now teenagers. Is the audience ready for an older Harry Potter? They bought the book--I just hope we present a Harry Potter they want to see."
Quote:
"My enthusiasm has absolutely not gone down," says Daniel Radcliffe, 15, who wouldn't rule out doing a non-Potter film before starting part 5 in January.
"But it would be a mistake to want to show you can do stuff other than Harry Potter so badly that you just rush into something."

I agree, plus with his exams he probably doesn't even have the time right now. But I couldn't help but think of Rupert and 'Driving Lessons' when I read this.

Excellent point Emma! I was thinking almost the very same thing when I read that! He doesn't need to rush, there will be projects out there. Exams should come first. There's nothing worse then when an actor just settles for something after they do something great. He should have his pick of really good projects. I never saw Driving Lessons though - was it sub-par?

Yeah I agree, when he auditions for a part a other movies he'll always be known as "that potter boy" He shouldn’t be rushing into things. And just take his time.
I personally would be excited to see Dan in a movie other then HP.

Even though Rupert has taken parts in other movies, don't forget that at that time he wasn't taking exams such as the GCSE exams Dan is doing right now. So it might have been easier for him to act in two different films at the same time.
Indeed, since Dan may be pictured always as "Harry Potter" like I hear many kids calling him even if they see a picture of the real him, it may be more difficult for him, than for other cast members to get a part in other films. But he's a good actor, and I suppose we'll just have to wait and see...

He's co-starring with 2 Academy-award nominated actresses: Julie Walters and Laura Linney.. how can he lose with that? I think he has everything to gain from it. Rupert is ready, he's of age, and the experience will do him good, prepare him for bigger things to come |

Cool. I'd love to see the unfinished version of the film and then see the finished one to see how different they'd be. I cannot wait to see it in November!!! EEK...so excited!!

Hogwarts RPG Name: Cara Fourth | it must be hard for dan emma and rupert in the future to be branded the trio. Its going to take many years for the them after hp to be considered serious actors by the rest of the world. Its a shame really but i think they'll be able to. |

| Well this confirms that he is receiving scripts to do other things, but he is not rushing to do other movies unless of course he or his parents think is the right movie for him. I want to see him in something else than Harry, but Dan don't rush, take your time... |

It's not even started production yet. Quote:

I think Thunderpants, at the age he was, was a good choice. But I didn't mean I thought he rushed into. Goodness knows he hasn't with DL; it took MONTHS to get confirmation on that! I was just wondering whether Dan meant perhaps Rupert was rushing or something. Quote:

I dunno, I don't think people would be silly enough to send him offers, not when they know he's so busy, still a minor and doing his GCSE's. But maybe he's had offers for between now and when they start OotP and is talking about them. In which case, I agree. He needs a break; he shouldn't be rushing into anything.
Both Dan and Rupert have said they want to come back though, guys Dan said yeah to OotP (several times now) and Rupert's said yeah to all of them. Emma's the one we haven't heard anything from.

That is very smart of Dan Radcliffe, he should stick with HP then when it's done he should try other things. He is young he has his whole acting career ahead of him. There will be plenty of time for him to try other types of movies.

It's kind of funny because when I read this, I didn't even think twice about the underlining meaning of what Dan said. lol When pointed out, it sounded more like jealousy to me than to say Dan gets offers outside of HP. It's true Dan shouldn't rush into anything, but I just keep re-reading it and it sounds more like a put-down rather than a positive mention. lol *shrugs*

Hmm... So why isn't there a picture of Rupert accompanying the article? Honestly though...I'd dying to see Emma do some kind of drama or romantic comedy something like those bad Disney teeny movies, but that's not Disney and that's actually good. Oh and this part...
