The Comic Con International Magazine has a new interview with Mike Newell. Brianne Cisneros, the 14-year-old interviewer, asked the ' Goblet of Fire' director about the Triwizard tasks, Hermione's appearance and the script. Quote: BC: In all the other movies, Hermione is not as plain, big toothed or bushy haired as she is in the books. In the book, nobody recognizes Hermione at the Yule Ball because she is so dressed up and beautiful. Is there going to be alot of time spent on that?
MN: "I think Emma Watson is a pretty girl, but I don't think she is super model beautiful. She's just like a real ordinary person. When she goes to the ball, we've made her look as beautiful and stylish as we knew how but still recognisably herself.
We don't spend a huge amount of time on it, but the way she looks does very much surprise Harry and Ron. And she's very excited to be invited by the Quidditch hero, Viktor Krum. He takes a real shine to her, and it's a very sweet relationship even though Ron is tortured with jealousy."
Mike also explains why the Dursleys were left out of the movie and why he decided to make the fourth installment into one film rather than two.

Comic Con International will take place from July 14th - July 17th in San Diego; Warner Brothers will be promoting GoF at the convention.
Gentle Giant, a merchandising company, have arranged for 'a special Harry Potter-related guest' to be present at their booth.

Good interview. But I was saying that whole thing about Emma. Emma is very pretty, but they don't try to make her bookish or nerdy at all...the first movie, yes. But the last two movies, she's been this pretty, very stylish girl...not really like Hermione. So I don't think the whole Yule Ball sequence will be surprising like it would be in the book. They can act like she's completely different, but we know better. Besides, the fact that Ron is tortured by jealousy is a reward in itself! Lol.
As for the Dursleys...it is a shame. That's a great scene...plus Dudley's diet and all. But I guess cutting them is better than cutting something better or something more important for time limits.

I think the Dursleys are crucial in OotP.
Besides, we KNOW they're in OotP, more or less. Remember, David Yates talked about getting permission for the Advance Guard scenes to feature London Landmarks? Well, if those scenes are taking place then they must be flying FROM the Dursleys.
I love logic.

Frankly I find the interview insulting. Because beauty is anyting u want it to be. Emma IS beautiful. I don't care what the definition or comparisons is to. The reason we have "super models" Is becuase it was supposed to be a preview of what clothing would be. BUT it turned into What society believes IS beautiful, or the oppitomie of physical beauty in a woman., and women should ignore that! Sorry but I think that is absolutley sextist.
Statments like that are the reason we have anorexia and bulimia in this world..UGH.
but yes lovely interview  lol

Well interesting interview but I was kind of put off by him saying Emma was a very pretty girl but not super model beautiful. She's a) only like 16 years old and b) so what? Most of the super models out there aren't even that good looking. I think he could have left that super model comment out completely. It wasn't nessecary and it was kind of insulting. I think Emma is growing up to be beautiful. Maybe it's time young girls had someone more real to look up to for once.

i heard the movie was going to be only two and one half hours. They cut out dursley's . Gosh LOTR is like three and one half hours. They could have very well added more to the movie.
