BBC Radio 4 aired a new interview with J.K.Rowling this morning, conducted by Stephen Fry. The interview can now be downloaded online from this page. A small transcript can also be seen at the same link. Quote: Jo: Dumbledore does express the regret that he always had to be the one who knew, and had to be the burden of knowing. He would rather not know.
My favorite comment about Harry at the time of the first book was abut a schoolboy who was interviewed...he said, 'He doesn't seem to know what's going on a lot of the time, and nor do I.'"
Quote: Jo: In self-defense, Harry had to, because of what I'm trying to say about Harry as a hero, because he's a very human hero...Harry therefore did have to reach a point where he did almost breakdown and say he didn't want to play anymore, he didn't want to be the hero anymore and he'd lost too much and he didn't want to lose anything. So Phoenix was the point at which I decided he had to have his breakdown. And now he will rise from the ashes, strengthened.

Really interesting... I missed the interview !!! That totally sucked... I dunno for some reason I thought that the interview was tomorrow then I looked up at the calendar and saw that today was the 10th, well, I was 1hour late !!! It was over... But now I can download it !!! YAY !!!

I was ever so slightly disappointed. No real discussion on HBP or Book 7. But then I'd have to be stupid to have expected that really. Still it was fun cuddling up on the sofa, under a blanket, listening to the radio half-asleep at 9am in the morning. hehe. I'll probably listen to it again on Christmas Eve.
The one thing that struck me was Jo saying, "Biologically, Harry is not connected/related to Voldemort." We know they're connected in many ways but her specifically saying that just made me wonder.

Thats awesome! I love Jo.
Yes, Harry did have quit a breakdown in OotP. I liked how she did that, made the books more realistic ... well for the characters I mean. Im sure I would have a breakdown to If I was born a normal child then at the age of 1, WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT, some evil person comes along and ruins the rest of your life. I would be ******. Not to mention he is the only person who can and has to kill the most evil wizard of all time at the age of 17. Thats a lot to handle!
