| | |  New HP Casting E-mail Scam
Today's edition of the Toronto Globe and Mail is reporting a new HP casting scam. The fraudulent e-mail claims to be from Warner Brothers and promises acting roles in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, as long as the recipient pays tuition fees as high as $3,830. The e-mail is being received all over the world. Warner Brothers is in the process of tracking down the culprits of this scam and has issued the following warning on their official Harry Potter website: Quote:
ALERT - EMAIL FRAUD ADVISORY
There have recently been a number of emails circulating claiming to be casting for upcoming Harry Potter films. Many of these emails request personal information and some have the subject line of "WARNERBROS CASTSEARCH" or something to that effect. This is to advise that Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. does not engage in casting activity through email. These emails are fraudulent and you should not respond to any such email. Feel free to forward any such messages to anti-piracy@warnerbros.com and we will do our best to investigate the fraudulent activity.

I hope they catch the person who started the email. Why do these scams exist? It's waaaaaaaaay too early to be casting parts for HBP anyway!

Some people will do anything to get money out of others! I hope they get caught soon, and believe me, if Warner Bros. gets a hold of them, they are going to be hurting big time! Hopefully anyone who might have fallen for the scam will get their money back, but it could take a long time through the courts. It's sad!

its really horrible for someone to run scams like that, if for no other reason than they get a kids hopes up. plus the money scam is just plain wrong as well. they better catch whoever did that and lock them up.

Those people are smart for criminals, but it's not nice to do that. A lot of people want a role in Harry Potter, the smart ones wouldn't open them, but the not-so-smart one might actually fall for it. Like when hurricanes and floods hit Florida and Asia, there were scams pretending to be Red Cross.
I hate it when people even try to take advantage of you. It gets on my nerves.
