NEW: Help in your language! - Español, Svenska, Français, Deutsch, etc Summary:
We have just opened a new section which gives members International Language Support! Learn the site better. Get help from a mod that speaks your own language. Read tutorials. Get to know fans from other countries! Article:
The new section is called The Department of International Cooperation - which is a name taken from 5 and is located in the Ministry of Magic.
If you are a long-time member here and are familiar with the site, please feel free to help others who might be new or less comfortable with how things work!
Even if your name isn't listed as moderator for a section that you speak fluently doesn't mean you can't be one of the most active helpers there!
Please spread the word to your friends and let them know where they can find the friendliest Harry Potter fans from all over the world! |

Wouldn't it be cool if there would be an official poll wih "Which country are you from?", and to open new topics in "the dept. of magical cooperation", based on that poll? Do I make any sense?

^ That a good idea, you'd want to leave it open for a while since the sections only new, though.
I'm Irish, so if anyone needs me to translate, feel free to call. Most Irish speakers learn English from Day One though.

Do I make any sense? Yes! Good idea, but unfortunately not everybody sees those polls.
Still, it could be interesting for you all to see who comes from where.
In our stats (that are open for everybody, btw) it shows how many visitors come from each country, so we have that information already.
According to that, the countries we need languages for (that we don't currently have) are Japanese, Dutch, and Danish.

Moding one of those forums is no simple task, you have to translate LOADS of pages.
But if you are willing and able (and preferrably 16 or older) we can allow it since we are in need of a Dutch forum.
Thanks!

Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.

| Let em warn you harryjames_potter, it is not easy at all. There is a lot of translating. It's great if you want to do it, but there's a lot of work, espicially if you do it on your own. <33 Jess

OOOoo, its a little different than I thought it would be. I thought I just had to maintain that one forum.
I can probaly translate everything. And I can also find some more people to help me, but i'm a little busy right now with other sites. That will take me about 2/3 weeks. But after that i'm totally free(expect school ofcourse).
Could you also give me more information on what I would have to do. Like do you want me to translate the entire site or just the forum. What should the forum contain, should it be something like a information page or will it be something like forum all apart?
There is no rush behind this, just wanted to know what I would have to do, so taht I know how many people i'll need to do it all.

Basically, there are about seven or ten pages that are a guide to SS, like the HELP page and the Board Rules. You've got to translate all of it. Which, as a mod of the French forum, beleive me, isn't easy.

I'm the Mod. of the Italian forum, and if you don't think you're fluent then I wouldn't do it. Aside from translating the Board Rules and Help page (which in itself is a lot) you will still have to read what other people say in the forum and answer questions and such.
I would sudgest (sp?) looking at the Board Rules and such that are Pinned in the Newbie section and see if you think you could handle translating them.
Good Luck!! :sorcerer: <33 Jess

I would love to head a dutch department. But for now I can't devote myself to it, YET.
I just did the SS board rules, and Princess Potter and mohamedg24 are right it isn't easy. Even though I am fluent in both English and Dutch, it is hard to find a suitable word. But i'm just writing useless information now.
If you find anybody else that is willing to translate the pages, please tell me because I maybe able to give him a head start. I will start to translate it but it will go slow. If you haven't found anyone in 2/3 weeks i'll give it a try.
Oooo, and a mod can better lock this thread, because I didn't read the article pointing to a whole thread dedicated to this.
Sincerely,
Harry James Potter
BTW: I'm not 16 yet, (sorry my profile may say differently) but can I still do it if I can give you credentials from other sites, that I mod? Edit: I finished: - SS Board Rules
- SnitchSeeker Help
- Introduction(the one by Christhiane)
What should I do with all this?

Thanks for doing all the work! I and all of Holland thank you! :sorcerer:
Forum description (please translate to Dutch): Quote: Help, rules, guides, tutorials and information in *language-name*.

Recently I have been getting a number of IMs from members asking me if they can be a language Mod (No idea why they are IMing me, though). To whom should I point them? Christhiane, Dumbledore, Keredwel? Or do we have all the language forums we need? <33 Jess
