| | |  New HBP artwork & campaign (spoilers)
A new piece of ' Half-Blood Prince' artwork, by Mary Grandpre, has been released in conjuction with the announcement of Scholastic's '100 Days until Harry' campaign.
A press release has been sent out describing the campaign which is set to start on April the 7th. The campaign includes the use of airplanes, billboards, radio spots Google banner ads. Quote:
A unique crossword puzzle entirely devoted to Harry Potter - a first time ever component of a children's book marketing campaign - will run in The New York Times on Sunday, July 10th reaching 3.5 million readers.
Also in July, approximately 50,000 domestic flights on Continental Airlines and American Airlines will feature 30-second and one-minute video ads.
Beginning with the midnight release and continuing through July 23rd, Harry Potter will once again command the Times Square Billboard in New York City with special 5 minute promotional spots at midnight followed by 15-second spots every hour that week for a total of 10 million impressions.

More promotions will be run by Scholastic featuring a downloadable countdown clock, a 'fact of the day', more polls, games and a poster.

Looks like lots of work for the folks over at Scholastic. I wanna see what the crossword is all about.
Does anyone know if they put the New York Times crosswords on their websites and if this one will be on it as well?

I think those people are Ron and Hermione and then Lily. We have been told, after all, that we'll see more of what happened 'that night' and the red-haired female looks older than the two kids opposite.

A rumour was spread before that a big secret about Lily would be revealed, but that was confirmed as being FALSE. Still, we do know we're supposed to find out more about the past.

I have to agree, I read on another site that they think the red head girl is Ginny but as soon as I saw it I thought it was Lily!

The red-haired figure looks very ghost-like. If she were human (or Ginny) surely the lines around her figure would be as defined as Ron & Hermione? Yet their illustrations are clearer and the woman looks older.
I'd place a heavy bet on that being either Lily or someone new.
Not to mention the fact that she looks pale and unclothed LOL
Yes, the Dark mark is above a town.

I don't think any major assumptions should be made about the choice of additional characters that appear on this picture. If you look back on the five prevous (UK) books, what you see illustrated on the front cover is commonly explained in the beginning of the book. Concequently it becomes a minor storyline to the book. Take book 1 + 2 with the train + car.
But then again what about books 3,4 & 5 with buckbeak, the dragon and the pheonix? They did become important to the stories!

Having said that, I was reading over at Mugglenet and someone pointed out that in CoS, Ginny fades as Voldemort gets stronger. The red-haired girl seems faint and misty-like/vague in comparison to Ron and Hermione. If it is Ginny, then maybe it's suggesting that Voldemort will affect her and continue to make her weaker (like he did in CoS) as he himself gets stronger.
But everyone knows you can't ship with covers. Just look at PoA & Harry & Hermione riding Buckbeak!

Well going by what JKR had said from the beginning, having this book somthing to do with or close to, the chamber of secrets...it would be Ginny. But, looking at the features of the ::mystery girl:: on the poster, it's very possible it could be Lily, long red hair, soft unclear expression, ghostly. well find out soon enough.
