| | |  New dinosaur name inspired by HP - UPDATED WITH PHOTO
The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis unveiled a restored skull from a newly discovered species of dinosaur and named it Dracorex hogwartsia, in honor of Harry Potter.
When museum paleontologists restoring the bones heard that visitors to the children’s museum felt the dinosaur, which has a flat skull with spiky horns, looked like a dragon, they agreed to name it Dracorex hogwartsia – taken from the Latin words for dragon (draco) and king (rex), and from J.K. Rowling’s Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (hogwartsia).
Rowling, who said her children are into dinosaurs, commented: Quote:
"The naming of Dracorex hogwartsia is easily the most unexpected honour to have come my way since the publication of the Harry Potter books."
UPDATE (courtesy of TLC): Jo also had this to add: Quote:
“I am absolutely thrilled to think that Hogwarts has made a small (claw?) mark upon the fascinating world of dinosaurs. I happen to know more on the subject of paleontology than many might credit, because my eldest daughter was Utahraptor-obsessed and I am now living with a passionate Tyrannosaurs rex-lover, aged three. My credibility has soared within my science-loving family, and I am very much looking forward to reading Dr. Bakker’s paper describing ‘my’ dinosaur, which I can’t help visualizing as a slightly less pyromaniac Hungarian Horntail.”
Dr. Bakker was one of the paleontologists who restored and named the dinosaur.

Congratulations to dear Jo but it’s actually more of an honour for the Dinosaur to be named after the Harry Potter series than it is for the Harry Potter books and Jo to have a dinosaur named after something linked to them. LMAO!
