Post New Deathly Hallows Swinley Forest set photos

New photos from the Swinley Forest Deathly Hallows set were taken earlier today, which show a green-screen erected crane and truck sitting near the woods, as well as a large wooden barrier before a walk-path and camouflage netting on the grass. They can all be seen below:

We are currently unaware as to when filming will take place in the forest, and who will be involved. However, the green-screen crane set-up suggests it will be used for flying sequences in the final Harry Potter films.

Thanks very much to MarieGriffiths for the photos!

Wowzers, that's a very nice bunch of photos! I have to say, the forest looks exactly like most forests here in Southern Finland. I've been to the UK loads of times but never really thought there would be forests just like ours there.

Interesting! I hope we get to see some pics when they begin shooting.

I am glad everyone enjoyed my photos. If the producers had any sense they would have filmed yesterday as the forest was driest I have known it. Last night it poured down. From experience, this turns the place into a mud bath so I cannot imagine any filming for the next few days. There was a group of 4x4 parked in the car park with labels on. I did not dare photograh them as I felt I was being watched already by the security guards. One of the cars clearly had props labelled on it, which to my mind meant they were ready to go.

I was just guessing at the flying sequence but I could not explain the crane and the path any other way. The camoflage netting either side of the path looked like a trap for an ambush scene.

If you search for "Harry Potter Deathly Hallows" on google maps then you will find my approximate locations. If I were the film producers I would have filmed in the quieter bit of the forest across the busy road.

If you are visiting then park at the Lookout Discovery Centre.
(It is actually a good place to visit with children anyway)
You can hire a bike there or pay a £2 permit for your own bike.

I'm not looking forward to Hedwig's death, if this is the 7 Potters scene. If it's the Malfoy Manor scene, that would be interesting to see how it comes together.

Hi,

Just chipping in to say I'm over in Swinley often for a spot of mountain biking, as it's almost on my doorstep, and so have had a chance to follow the recent activity (hard not to miss it as a lot of the forest is closed off). As it's only the weekends when I'm there there's not much going on and what I've seen isn't much different to what's been seen already.

But anyway, my photos are available here if you're interested:

Flickr: tj.moore's Photostream

Certainly looks like the crane set up is either a flying stunt, or a high-wire tracking camera shot set up.

Did take a peek in a truck window and saw some kind of shooting sheet but there was nothing on it, except for the name Leavesden Studios.

p.s. Swinley is great for walking, cycling and more importantly mountain biking. Some of the best mountain bike single track and downhill in the south east is in this fantastic place!

Oh, and full marks to Warner for their commitment to the upkeep of the forest.

Cheers,

Tim (DeadKenny).
