| | |  MTV interviews Rupert Grint & other 'Driving Lessons' news
MTV has a new interview with Rupert Grint in which he talks about ' Driving Lessons' and Harry Potter. Quote:
"I'm learning to drive in real life," Grint said, "so part of the reason I signed up for this film was that I was really looking forward to driving a car. I was only 16 when I was doing it, so it was against the law [in England], and we had to shoot mostly on private roads. But there was one little hill where I was supposed to drive up and stop, and I forgot to put on the hand brake, and it started to roll toward the camera." Grint managed to stop the car before it collided with the crew ("It was pretty close," he admitted).

"She's always in character, always doing crazy stuff, so it's hard to keep a straight face," he said of Walters. "And the bus scene, where she's telling everyone I'm gay, and I'm protesting that I'm not, that was a really hard scene to do and not laugh. I don't know why, but it's the serious things that crack me up the most. Especially the quiet scenes."

But he's at least more prepared for his massive make-out sessions to come in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." "I'll know what to expect now," he said. "But Ben's kiss is a bit different than Ron's. I might make that one a bit more enthusiastic."
Rupert also briefly mentions filming scenes for Dumbledore's Army; "I'm dueling Hermione and I get thrown back a lot, which we do with me wearing a harness. We're doing quite a few stunts, but the really big fight scenes are coming up."
In other Rupert-related news, 'Driving Lessons' will be screened at this years Cannes Film Festival on the following dates; Quote:
May 17th - 5:30PM at ARCADES 1
May 18th - 2PM at Olympia 5
May 20th - 2PM at Olympia 5
[There are possibly more dates to be announced]
And, on top of that, two new clips from the above mentioned movie have been released online and can be seen here in Quicktime format.

I'm loving that interview. I always have to smile when he does an interview and this one was very nice indeed. I can't wait for DL to come out. I'm on pins and needles right now. I wish I could go to Tribeca to see it April 30th but I can't. Oh well. I'll wait for it to come to Portland. Rupert's worth waiting for so I'll wait for him.
I wish Rupert would teach me to drive. I thought that was so funny the way he described the car rolling and almost hitting the crew. Good thing he stopped it.

The press seem to be covering him a fair amount but that's due to the Tribeca Film Festival starting soon and what with DL being shown at Cannes, the press coverage is only going to increase from here on in.

I LOVED the MTV interview. I thought it was the best out of all the new ones we've gotten. Alloy is second and ComingSoon.net is third. But I loved hearing how he approached the DL kiss, how he will in HBP (!), and the tidbit about almost running the crew over in DL! LOL!
And everyone needs to watch those clips! Rupert is fanfreakin'tastic! You don't even think of Ron, you think Ben. He's completely awesome. This is why he's being called 'a terrific young actor' and having a 'breakout performance' from a well known NY magazine.  | |

Rupert is gonna do lots of interviews from now on and that's a very good thing. It's about time Rupert got some recognition.  I can never say this enough but I'm so very proud of him. He is gonna have a long and exciting career ahead of him and when he retires, he can become an ice cream man like he always wanted but that years and years down the road.
