New snippets about the contents of ' Half-Blood Prince' were revealed at The Book Expo America and have been recorded in a Newsday Blog. The reporter spoke to Arthur Levine about what could be expected from the new novel. Quote:
Jim Dale, who narrates the audiobook versions of the Harry Potter books confided that he's been sworn to secrecy on the contents of the new one, out in July. "I do know who dies," he said, adding he thinks this one is J.K. Rowling's best.

Jim Dale had mentioned yesterday that somebody dies. True? “I can neither confirm nor deny.”
Does Harry have a girlfriend? “I can’t say ... He’s definitely growing up in all areas of his life.”
Later, he said he didn’t experience this book to be as dark as the last, though the overall arc of the series is that the “world is getting more pernicious.”
This one, he said, “has more romance in general.” And then he and marketing VP Jennifer Pasanen, who was sitting in, started humming “Love is in the air.” Well, it’s a clue.
EDIT: Several people have asked what 'pernicious' means.
My Oxford dictionary says it means 'harmful'.
Dictionary.com says: 'Tending to cause death or serious injury; deadly: a pernicious virus. Causing great harm; destructive: pernicious rumors.
Evil; wicked.'
So basically, the wizarding world, in Half-Blood Prince, is getting more harmful, more deadly, more destructive and more evil and wicked. It also hints at increased death and injury.

I don't think is such a big deal,we already knew that 'love is in the air' from Goblet of Fire.So... nothing spectacular.
And above all, he'll be 16; of course his life has more romance in general. | |

*coughRonandHermionecough* Everyone knows it's gonna happen! We're just waiting for it...I'm a R/Hr shipper 4 life! And Harry's romance...as much as we'd all like it to be Ginny, I'm not too sure. That would seem too easy. I mean, it could be someone we don't know much about yet, or someone we don't know at all. Maybe he would get with Ginny, but the would see it wasn't meant to be and so on...or, to please us all, they could see they're meant to be, and we have a happy ending. And I'm off topic.
Pernicious. What does that word mean? I could go and look it up in the dictionary, but I'm feeling lazy at the moment. So if any of you have an idea...
Who's gonna die? I hope it's not my other fav character (Ron). Sirius is my 2nd fav character and JK killed him. If she kills Ron I'll be crying for months. She can't kill Ron. She won't kill Ron. I know she won't. I hope she won't...

i dunno..the prospect of more romance seems, eh. too much like a fanfiction. Not that i don't love thinking up possible hp character combinations, but...
Based on this, it sounds like the 6th book is going to be more about romance than action. i mean think about it: 'not quite as dark' but 'love is in the air'
i really hope they're exaggerating...

I think it makes sense. The calm before the storm, sort of thing. And they are teenagers and judging by the foreshadowing in previous books, it'd be silly to think romance wasn't going to play a part in the coming novels. JK's been building up to a R/Hr relationship from as early as PS.
I've added a definition to pernicious.

Well romance has always been there somehow ...but I always figured it would play a bigget part in either this or the 7th book...Especially after the whole Cho-thing...and of course our two love birds; Ron and Hermione...  Quote:

how exciting. i also happen to think that ron and hermione belong together. whoever harry is with i hope its not just "they're together" happy ever after. but seeing how jk writes so far it probably won't be. she tends to be realistic with the attitudes/angst for the age group.  | |
