| | | More 'Goblet of Fire' reviews
More ' Goblet of Fire' reviews courtesy of the BBC, the Hollywood Reporter, The Sun, Empire Online, Variety, BBC Movies and Manchester Online. BBC: Quote:
Although Newell is new to the franchise, there is no clear difference between his style and previous Potter director Alfonso Cuaron's in The Prisoner of Azkaban, although there was a marked difference between Cuaron and Chris Columbus, who directed movies one and two.
The Hollywood Reporter: Quote:
It is this final task that brings Harry into his first contact with Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), an almost reptilian personification of pure evil. Coming in the fourth movie, the much-anticipated confrontation does not disappoint.
Quote:
Rowling's story insists that Harry pines for Cho Chang even as Ron looks at Hermione in a brand new light. Only Harry and Hermione must spend so much quality time together because of the plot that they seem to go together more comfortably.
Quote:
The one role left stranded is a gossip journalist played by Miranda Richardson, a character the movie easily could have jettisoned.
The Sun: Quote:
The final battle between Potter and Voldemort is also well worth the wait, and owes much to Star Wars as their wands clash together like lightsabers.
But while the special effects often sit uncomfortably in a film like Revenge of the Sith, here they blend seamlessly into each scene, creating an on-screen magic that leaves you spellbound.
Empire Online: Quote:
This is certainly not a movie for young children, however engaging its characters and comic touches. Teen angst and relationship problems are pretty boring if you’re six. But it’s not the burgeoning sexuality that’s landed the picture its 12A certificate, rather its genuinely darker vein of fantasy horror.
Quote:
While he was at it, it’s a pity he didn’t also delete tabloid hackette Rita Skeeter — however much one likes Miranda Richardson — since she obviously functions as author J. K. Rowling’s dig at celebrity-stalking gossips, adding nothing more than running-time the story doesn’t need.
Quote:
Consequently, the story editing goes through some distinctly choppy patches. It looks as if several scenes were filmed at greater length, surviving in quick snippets that are frequently unnecessary.
Variety: Quote:
Altered emphasis requires more of Daniel Radcliffe, and he rises to the occasion with a more dimensional and nuanced performance as Harry. Having now passed decisively into adolescence, he suggests for the first time there actually may be an actor in him, as he seems more aware of, and responsive to, everything going on around him.
BBC Movies: Quote:
The downside is that the story feels rushed, and quieter scenes are given little room to breathe in the headlong tumble towards the next set piece.
Quote:
The special effects, from a thrilling Quidditch World Cup to Voldemort's twitchy nostrils, are first rate, and Newell shoots in sombre autumnal tones that give the story a melancholy feel in spite of the choppy editing.
Quote:
In short, it's a focused, efficient film that lacks charm but gets the job done.
Manchester Online: Quote:
The film strikes a pleasing balance between menace and giggles, and even strays into the realms of the risqui with a bubble bath sequence that sees Harry desperate trying to conceal his 'wand' from lusty Moaning Myrtle (Henderson).
Radcliffe continues to mature as actor but it's Watson and Grint who impress most, despite their limited screen time. Sparks of sexual chemistry are clear for all to see.
By contrast, Harry's pursuit of the object of his affections, Cho Chang (Leung), is a bit wet.

I was expecting that kind of a review exactly. Because of the plot? Maybe not because of the plot, because of the script!! |

It is very funny how one of the reviewers is r/hr and the other is h/hr shipper.
I haven't so far seeing any sexual chemistry between Rupert and Emma, even thought I am R/Hr shipper for some reason I don't see them like I see Ron and Hermione in the books (I don't know why), I guess is because I see the trio as a big family, they always run the line of they are like brothers and sister Quote:
Radcliffe continues to put in a fine performance as the troubled wizard

Of course Dan is not only gorgeous but the fabulous actor but I have to stop reading all these reviews and the ones that will come in the next week, because most of them write the same thing, it get boring after a while!

You so got that idea from me but it's alright you can lend it. But yeah, without the animagus stuff, Rita seems virtually pointless. Quote:

It is the plot. For a while R/H aren't talking and even when they are it is Hermione who spends all her time focused on getting Harry through the tournament, worrying about him and for him.

I haven't so far seeing any sexual chemistry between Rupert and Emma I'm neither an R/Hr nor a H/Hr shipper, and i agree with you, there is no on-screen chemistry between Rupert and Emma.

I don't wanna read more reviews, i just want to watch the movie now!. Well I am not into shipping but I can tell you that Ron and Hermione is a sure thing, at least for me, I saw it since the 2nd book, but like I said before in the books I see it much better than with Rupert and Emma.
It is just that I cannot find them cute together or their chemistry as a couple is not there
And I am going to do the same thing, stop reading these reviews because like I said before most of them say the same thing, and it gets boring!

It is just that I cannot find them cute together or their chemistry as a couple is not there Yeah, at least in the books there is something, you can see Ron is crazy for Hermione, but in the movies, it's so blah!. I'm not into the ship, but well, Jo says it's so, and i obey, lol. In the movies Rupert and Emma say the lines, and tptb try hard (sometimes too hard), but without the proper amount of chemistry between the actors it just falls flat.

Graduated | sounds like it's definately a very good movie and the reviewers can't find anything drastically wrong with it so they're gonna pick it apart and look for any little error they can find (which is typical and expected of course). CANNOT WAIT TO sEe ThiS MoviE!!!!!!!! woowohwohwowho !!!

BUT they could end up changing our minds...never know.
I also agree that they could have definitely cut Rita out and given more time for more important things and characters.

LOL, seems a lot of people are of the opinion of getting rid of Rita, i don't know, i'd rather see a little bit of her at least, plus that actress is superb.
I just want to see this movie so badly.

Well of course it's going to jump from scene to scene. They need to fit so much in a little amount of time.
Hmmm ... I hope they didn't just put Rita in randomly, that might ruin it. Yeah, does anyone know if Sirius has a big part in the movie? I know he doesn't have a big part in the book but I mean do we see him as much in the movie ... Did that make sense?
But everything else they said was excellent so I can't wait!
I'm too impatient! December 1st is too long!
