Newsround have run an article on the popularity of JKR's new website and how it's become so popular purely by word of mouth.

Millions hit JK's site in it's first week!

JK Rowling's new official website has been a huge success with fans, getting more than 17.5m hits in its first week.

The number of hits is even more impressive considering that the site didn't have a big official launch, with fans spreading the word instead.

JK Rowling says she's delighted that so many fans have discovered the site.

JK told Newsround Online: "If there is ever a quiet spell on the website, it's because I'm writing so hard, so either way the fans win!"

She says the purpose of the site - which launched on Friday 14 May - is to give something to the fans to enjoy and be able to access definitive information.

And that's something they all seem to want, as by comparison popular fansites like The Leaky Cauldron get between 3 and 4 million hits a week.

She also said there should be some updates to the site within a couple of weeks.

The site has been in development for some time. According to JK: "I told the designers that I wanted to use my real desk as the home page, with Portkeys to take people to the various sections, and we worked out all the details together.

"So I was very involved! The designers actually took a picture of my real desk to work from and the result is very accurate."

Potter fans always have lots of questions about the book. So JK had a very difficult task deciding what to answer.

She said: "I've chosen a few questions that I knew people really wanted answered, but which didn't get asked in the last Webchat I did for World Book Day.

"And I've also thrown in a few bits and pieces from my notebooks." She adds "There's more to come!"

But the big question for many fans is when will we find out what's behind the mysterious door.

JK's reply: "I told you on the site patience is the key."

Has anyone got more than four clues?, because if noone does, maybe those are the ones to find for now, and later she'll be adding more, and opening the door, i mean she *is* J.K she wouldn't give us everything at once, she is a cruel woman, she'll make us suffer first, lol.

I just think this patience thing is a hint from her for something. She is so annoyingly evil at times and if she read any comments about her site, she'd probably grin from ear to ear, knowing she's dangling a carrot in front of us, but she aint gunna give it to us anytime soon.

Grrrr Lol, she is evil.

the only hidden things I've got, is the box in the links section, the four things (spider, feather, leaves, and the potion), and I've seen all the peeves things (just do nothing for five minutes everywhere)

This hidden stuff is cool..I went to the fansite room and got some hidden stuff.. the phone is driving me crazy!

The program is designed (at least for now) so that there is only one code which makes the mobile phone do anything special, and I think we've all discovered that.

hey if you go to 'Extra Stuff' (the tea cup) and then go to edits then to 'Opening chapter for book 6' it says that she is using a chapter she tried to use in the 1st 3rd and 5th book but didnt work in any of them. I think that it is something about harrys past/parents cus i cant think of anything else it would be because if it was going to be used in Sorcerers Stone then it couldnt be anything about any of the other books... but something about harrys past could be used in that book but was took out because it didnt fit perfectly. But now its being used because we may need to know more about harrys past or parents like their involvement in the order... or perhaps voldemorts reign of terror. lol. any other ideas?

Hi. i am talking to titansfan132004. Do oyu know where to get the spyder? and do you know how the rubber showes a feather.jar,spyder and leaves well in the cauldron there i a question mark and on the desk at the hair tye it has a question mark and in the book case scene it has a book with a question mark on it. maybe that will help. emil me at balisticbloom@hotmail.com if you know. bye
