A letter from a fan to Mike Newell

Summary:
She is steaming about PoA and hopes GoF will be way better, apparently.

Article:

Thanks to Wizardnews

Quote:
Dear Mike Newell,

I fear for the next movie, Goblet of Fire.

After seeing Alfonso Cuaron butcher Prisoner of Azkaban, I can only hope that as new director for Goblet of Fire, you will read the many thousands of emails that are furious with the way he sucked the soul right out of the movie! Might as well have had a dementor direct. Did he read the book?

Mr. Newell, you have a GIANT chance to make an epic movie of Goblet of Fire because the story is so rich and wonderful. Chris Columbus put powerful actors in place to represent the first two stories. I can only hope that you will not be afraid to put Hogwarts back the way it should be and give the actors some room to provide the richiness to the characters that J.K. Rowling created.

None of those books needed emblishments, the people in the pictures don't need to be cartoon characters. The Stag really needs to attack the dementors, etc.

I guess I am still steaming about Azkaban...

Mr. Newell, Peter Jackson did a wonderful job on Lord of the Rings, why don't you take some lessons from him, not Alfonso? Although Peter Jackson did not necessarily follow the books, he made sure that the important core and heart of the stories were portrayed in some way. Alfonso just plain left them out.

As an avid fan of the Harry Potter books, I beg that Goblet of Fire be as good as the first two. Some depth, and no shortcuts and better cinematography.

Thank you.

OMG POA is so much better than PS and COS for a start the acting is better!

as for Hogwarts it looked amazing even thought most of it was CGI but it was filmed in Scotland.

It isnt up to mike Newell about the script i dont think anyone should be blaming Alfonso for POA it should be STEVE KLOVES he had runied the bost HP book.

Holy crap, I hope this letter never reaches Mike Newell!

How can she even pretend to represent a majority of fans ("the many thousands of e-mails..") with her tainted view of PoA?

Nearly everybody - well the overwealmingly vast majority anyways - agrees that Azkaban was the best movie of the three.

She needs to get a grip.

:/ I liked PoA, although I hope they keep the little things that PoA missed in GoF. PoA was overall brilliant, but the story telling left a lot to be desired, good movie but bad story.

Whom are you asking?

I think it's pretty clear that all of us have.

Unless you mean "Becky" who wrote the letter to Mr. Newell. I can agree that it's questionable whether she's actually seen the movie! lol

Oh man, does she need to grow up!

She's acting like a little 6 year old, whinging about the movie to the new director! To me she seems to be complaining about the fact Alfonso stopped the kiddy stuff and made Harry, Ron and Hermione teenagers, which they are! Maybe she just doesn't realise that.

Gary, you said in your PM to me that you are from Greece, so I am expecting that you won't see the movie till November, sorry. I would be really upset. It has been in UK, USA, Australia etc. Since early June.

What the hell this fan thinks about POA?
First a fall....why does this person thinks that POA is a badly made movie?i mean when we compare to the books,it may not be entirely thruthful. But remember, these guys are movie makers. They have to make a movie by keeping all general viewers in point of view. They cant make movies just for the book readers. In our place, there are very few people(20 out of 100)who have read all the books of HP.I think in that way,POA is much much better.

I understand how a lot of people think the stag should have "charged" the dementors like in the books but I also can agree with the choice for it not to.

The reason the stag can't charge the dementors in the filml is because in the movie, the dementors "fly" instead of "float". If they can fly, then when the stag charges, why wouldn't they just fly over it. And he could only reach the ones very close to the ground (there were loads of them swaring around in the air).

That's why they decided to go with the shiny spreading of light to rid them instead. And I can appreciate that.

If Mike Newell gets that letter, then he will probably think that...

a) He will be under more pressure to succeed.

and B) All us Potter fans are sad people.

For one thing, LOTR was not perfect at all. Even the 'fans' hated some of the things PJ altered.

I think she should get her facts straight.

and why is she comparingg it with lotr both are completly different..

i agree with lemondrizzle this girl is a giving Mike Newell a wrong impression of hp fans

I liked the way Alfonzo did the movie and yes the actors were better but i have to say I did like it as much as SS and CoS. I think he did miss some of the great parts of the movie. And for that GoF has to fill in all the stuff that he did miss and that makes GoF have to take out parts of its movie so it can correct PoA. :/
