| | |  Leaky interviews OotP scriptwriter
Following the fabricated interview that emerged yesterday with Order of the Phoenix screenwriter Michael Goldenberg, Leaky have spoken to the man himself to find out the truth in regards to how he feels about Potter. He confirms that he's met Jo Rowling several times in person; he first came into contact with her before he ever started working on HP. Quote: MA: How did you attempt to cut a screenplay out of that 900-page book?
MG: David Yates and I worked from the beginning -- we both really like dense films which are very generous in the same way the books are so generous, and looked for every opportunity to get everything we could in there. And where we couldn't, to sort of pay homage to it, to have it somewhere in the background or to feel like it could be taking place off-screen.
Quote: MA: Can you give an example of a cut you had to make that you just really had hoped would stay?
MG: I know there was some controversy about the Ron-Quidditch sub-plot. I hated to cut anything. But in that case, because it wasn't really central to the story and there's so much else to deal with, we all felt pretty early that was something that might not make the film. But by the same token, the spirit of that story, and Ron growing as a character and Ron facing challenges and coming into his own in the same way that Harry is, we tried to get that into the film in other ways, as much as possible.
Quote: MA: What are some of your favourite moments?
MG: I guess a lot of emotional moments, obviously, between Harry and Sirius. Luna was somebody I fell in love with right from the beginning. I thought she was really important. She gives an important, new colour to the story, to how Harry looks at things. The minute you meet her with her wand behind her ear you go, "Oh, she's a writer." I was smitten from the beginning. But that kind of innocence, combined with the hard-earned wisdom that's come from her past, and how she and Harry connect because of their similarity.

And because they totally omitted everything about Ron becoming a Prefect and the new Gryffindor Quidditch Team Goal-Keeper -- this installment will suck big time for me!
I remember when Rupert and the Phelps twins visited Italy, some Italian fans were already humming a "Weasley Is Our King" tune -- even if no melody has been composed for it! That is how much a lot of fans worlwide are anticipating for it to be included in the movie because they love seeing Ron finally gaining confidence, achieving and coming on his own, and how young people can identify with the experience, and become inspired by Ron's success. It would have become a wonderful highlight of the film for its inspiring message.
The series is imparting a lot of good messages for the youth, which is delivered by characters other than Harry. Yet they choose to truncate or replace these scenes that have positive messages, with only what they think will "sell" better. I wonder why they go for commercialism over moral responsibility, when they can go for both. And this is where they fail, this is where they make a big mistake. (°•.¸(¨*•.¸ RUPERT GRINT FAN CONVENTION ¸.•*¨)¸.•°)
