| | |  Latvian Harry Potter camp threatened
The Baltic Times reports that the organiser of a Latvian Harry Potter camp, Lolita Osipova, has received 15 anonymous threatening phone calls. She has recently filed a report with the police, with fears for the safety of the children. The threats pointed to the links between magic and evil, with quotations from the Bible. Quote:
"I am in charge of the children's security, so I turned to the police. I believe there is a reason for launching a criminal procedure," Osipova said.

This is so nauseating....these so-called Christian groups sure act like God fearing people when they THREATEN children!!! Arent they so holier than thou?? They clearly are taking lessons from some of the more ignorant types who pulled this cowardly move in the US w/ the calls for banning the HP books in school, etc.

This is sad. I don't understand why people have to take things so seriously. Why can't kids just have fun and enjoy themselves. So what that there is magic and such. Doesn't mean anything besides that they are having fun, enjoying life, and being able to be kids. Threatening kids lifes does not sound very "noble" and really make Christian groups look bad... How sad

I'd like to personally thank these people for, once again, making Christians look bad. Geesh! You'd think these people had better things to be doing. Yeah, ur a real Christian threating a children's camp like ur a terrorist or something. If you don't agree with Harry Potter (I can't imagine why not?) then leave it alone. I hope they're arrested.

That is horrible. It is totally not a Christian thing to threaten a camp that is based on the Potter world. It just isn't at all. When are they going to get through their heads that Harry Potter is just fiction? They let their children see films and such that are full of violence and other things. What i wrong with Harry Potter?
This just makes other people who are Christians look bad. I'm a Christian and I, along with the members of my church, have no problem with Harry Potter or any other book that involves magic. We understand that it is just fiction and not something that wants children to go all evil and stuff. Haven't they ever thought that J.K. Rowling is a Christian as well?
