At the beginning of the month we told you Katie Leung (Cho) was nominated for the 'Outstanding Newcomer Award' in the 2006 Asian Excellence Awards. She is now one of four finalists in the category. She'll becompeting against Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica), Lynn Chen (All My Children) and Rex Lee (Entourage).

Never heard of the other finalists. Katie did a brilliant job, especially considering it was her first time acting. But she didn't appear that much in the film

We need more of her. She did alright in perspective to the book, but she's probably capable of a lot better acting if she's already getting an award.

I wish she was in the movie more she probably was because there were so many deleted scenes.Go Katie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHe deserves to win considering it was the first timeshe was ever acting!

Just like what I said in that other news item about her, I'm not dissing her, but I think the recognition she's getting now is not really about her acting skills (which we didn't see much of since she was barely seen in the GoF). I think its more of the popularity she gained in being cast in a huge film like HP.

I don't really think she deserves it, firstly because it's only her first film and she was on it for only like what? 5 minutes? I have heard about the others and i don't think their that good either. So why don't we just wait and see. And i agree with tonks26, i think she's getting all these recognition because she was part of a very big film. But anyways, all the best Katie.
