Tolga Safer, who will play Karkaroff's aide in the upcoming Harry Potter movie has given interviews to both The Leaky Cauldron and HPANA. Leaky's interview can be read here. Quote: How did you get cast in Goblet?
I was originally seen for the part of “Viktor Krum” around Christmas 2003. I then went and met Mike Newell (Director) and the casting directors Mary Selway and Fiona Weir for a second time at the film studios. Two weeks later my agent phoned me and told me they were going with someone else for Viktor Krum but that Mike liked my auditions and that a part had been created and offered to me, the part of Aide to Professor Karkaroff.
Quote: If you could play any character in the books, who would it be and why?
I would have to say Snape. Snape is a great character in the books and is played amazingly by Alan Rickman in the movies. I like Snape because there is a sense of mystery about him. His intentions and whether he is a goodie or baddie, so to speak, are always in question. Apart from Dumbledore I don’t think anyone is 100% sure, and I like that.

Tolga: As people know and point out Karkaroff does not have an aide/sidekick in the book however the part was created after I had a second meeting with Mike Newell and the casting directors Mary Selway and Fiona Weir. Mike Newell's view of the character was that he would have been a former student of Durmstrang and then became Prof. Karkaroff's second in command and assistant. He's kind of a "mini-me" to Karkaroff.

Haha, I know. Why create a new character and give them lines when you could have just given it to an existing character? Waste of time, really.

i just read it in the newspaper that he's turkish. though i think he was born in england. made it to the first page actually, not of the actual paper but the additonal part.. i guess you guys don't have any additional newspapers to go with the main one? i dunno if i can make myself clear. whatever. kind of a person to be proud of for us not many internationally known people around here. i was kinda jealous at first to tell the truth  i think it was unnecessary to add him to the film, but i'd do anything just to be on the set.. oh, and i think he'd be much better for krum, if you judge by the looks. ianevski is way too handsome to be krum, if you ask me.

^ yes i guess he is the one in the "Karkaroff and Krum enter the hall" pic.. it must be very honoring to have a part created just for you.. and he's so lucky to be able to have a part in the hp movies.. i would've been really flattered..proud.
