Post John Williams set to conduct orchestra at Wednesday's Wizarding World celebration

Universal Orlando has confirmed via their official Twitter that legendary composer John Williams, who wrote the music for the Harry Potter theme song, "Hedwig's Theme," as well as the scores for the first three films, will be headlining a choir to be played during tonight's Wizarding World of Harry Potter star-studded event. That ceremony will stream live at this link from 9:30pm EST - 10:30pm EST.

SnitchSeeker will be live inside the event, and will update throughout the evening with new information.

why, why, why! His scores were the most inane music ever, the only lasting is 'Hedwigs' theme and thats not at all brilliant. He failed to capture the spirit of Harry Potter and he was quiet happy to abandon ship when Mr Speilberg came calling, unwilling to commit to the series. But, now it's ending feels it's ok to return and take what ever kudos there is for the music.

Ouch, harsh words. I disagree, personally i love the scores for the first 3 films, and i thought he captured the spirit perfectly

Wow. This is totally uncalled for. The fact that Hedwig's theme is THEE music that everyone thinks of when they hear the word "Harry Potter" is significant enough. And have you ever listened to the POA soundtrack!? It's probably one of John Williams best scores ever. I have listened to almost every single John Williams score there is, and I'm not just loving it because it's HP. If you ask me I think that the 5th and 6th movie soundtracks sound the same while John Williams' scores were coherent AND different. Plus the sheer difficulty of William's pieces makes them technically better than most movie soundtracks ever are. I play violin, the piano, percussion instruments and sing well. It's what I go to school for. I know what I'm talking about.

Nooo!!! I LOVE John Williams!!!! I was finally okay with not being able to go to the Wizarding World Theme Park but to hear that the amazing John Williams is going to be there is making depressed that I can't go all over again. Oh, I want to see him in concert before I die...why do I always miss the opportunities??!!! Well, for those that will see him, I'm awfully jealous of you all.

I know you're entitled to your opinion but it seems a bit absurd to say it about John Williams. It would be one thing to say about Hooper, Doyle, and even Desplat because they haven't been doing it as long. However, Williams has been around for ages and is one of the most successful composers alive today. It's like saying Beethoven knew nothing about music, you know? I know a lot about musical composition so it doesn't make much sense to say Williams wasn't anything. I grew up listening to his scores from other films, way before Potter even came out and still listen to him. Did you ever try Schindler's List? I swear, if that doesn't make you cry...

As for him "abandoning ship," he's worked successfully with Spielberg since the 1970s so technically Spielberg had the right to want him (yes I know that's unfair). The Harry Potter movies would be NOTHING without John Williams at all. His Hedwig's Theme set the film up for the magic/adventure to come and the POA soundtrack was by far amazing as it wandered into darker territory.

I love John Williams. His music can take anyone to the core of Harry Potter world. Without it the Harry Potter movies wouldn't be the same. I totally agree with xmjemx and Looneybird's opinion. The complexity and the difference in his music is what makes it special. Also besides Hedwig's theme I love "A window to the Past." I get teared up whenever I listen to that song. I really wish I was there tonight to see the orchestra being conducted by the man himself: John Williams

whoah JW being there as well? lucky! they either drove a truckload of cash and dumped it on his lawn to get him to go or he must really feel strongly about this park. and from everything we've been hearing coming out of the park in the past few days, the whole effort must really be something.

i was content watching the park opening from the computer until i get the chance to actually get to FL myself (someday!), now i'm jealous.

i hope somebody makes a short documentary of the park's opening, that way they could record things like JW and the choir (which i bet will be fantastic). after all, the real life legacy of HP isnt just limited to the books and movies anymore, now they've made great efforts to make it a physical experience.

why! why! why! your post is the most inane thing ever!!!!!11

dude just remember that without JW setting most of HP's musical gallery, all the other composers who had to follow after him would have NOTHING to base the HP "sound" from. they tried to drift away from that (4th movie IIRC) and right away you lose the magical sound and rhythm that is omnipresent in the HP movies, whether if the characters were wearing robes or blue jeans. thats the mark JW has on anything he works on. oh and he doesnt drop everything just because Spielberg or Lucas calls for him to work on their project, you dont know their projects that he had to turn down simply because he wanted to work on something not related to films.
