| | |  John Hurt to reprise Ollivander role in Deathly Hallows?
Actor John Hurt, who played the wandmaker Ollivander in the first film, Sorcerer's Stone, was asked about the chance of him returning to play his character in the final installments of the series, Deathly Hallows: Quote:
Having played Mr Ollivander in the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s [Stone], it seems he may be returning for the final instalment, which has been split into two for the cinema.
“I didn’t spend a lot of time on the Harry Potter film but I might be spending more time there next time,” he smiled. “We’ll see.”
We will try to update with news about potential casting when it is made available.

Well...(you know that's just 'cause if it can, it will happen) it could but personally I think the whole saga at the Malfoy Manor was a great set piece, and it'd be a shame to lose it. So it is possible to do DH without Ollivander, but I'd like to see them include it, especially since they now have 2 films in which to tell the story.

Yeah I know I agree soooo much! Do you guys remeber when wbs said they might have to replace Dan w/ another actor because he was getting older than what the character would look like at the age?

Actually, before I'd even read a single word of book 7, I figured it was highly likely Ollivander would make a reappearance at some point in the movies. And for one simple reason -- why else would they get such a legendary actor such as John Hurt for such a small part way back in the first film? I'm thinking that Rowling told the filmmakers that before the end Ollivander would resurface in a fairly important way in the story, and thus cast him with a good solid actor, it'll help to have that much more impact when it happens.
And ya know on the whole idea of changing actors mid-stream, obviously they had to do so with Dumbledore, but with as much of a fine actor that Richard Harris was, I hate to say it but I think they miscast him to begin with as simply too old. I mean think about it, if Harris had survived, could you really have seen him having that hardcore duel with Ralph Fiennes at the climax of OOTP?
