[img]http://www.snitchseeker.com/images/news/jkr_80.jpg' align='middle'> Jo Rowling to sign 500 autographs tommorow - at the Edinburgh Book Festival Summary:
500 lucky ticket holders, won through a ballot, will tomorrow get their books signed by J.K.Rowling. Article: Jo Rowling to sign 500 autographs tommorow
Following her reading from Order of the Phoenix tommorow, J.K.Rowling will be signing one Harry Potter book per winner at the Edinburgh book festival. 500 people won tickets in a random ballot to hear the author read segments of her new book, take questions from fans and get a copy of one of their books signed by her. The Scotsman has reported that a spokeperson for the event has said the signing will take just an hour - limiting fans to 7.2 seconds to get their book signed. Quote: But, after taking questions from 500 fans chosen in a lottery out of the 21,000 people from around the world who applied, she will then spend an hour signing copies of books they have brought along. Quote: However, if everyone attending the book festival event brings a first edition, Ms Rowling could make them collectively richer by upwards of £100,000. Not that I'd be interested in the money - I'd never part with a book she'd signed for me, but I do happen to have a first edition Order of the Phoenix hardback. Quote: "They are allowed, basically because of time constraints, one book per person. It’s up to them which book they bring," she said. Quote: The spokeswoman said they were expected to take about an hour, which would mean a rate of one person every 7.2 seconds. Quote: Harry Potter fans from as far away as Canada and central Europe are expected to attend tomorrow’s event, which book festival staff stressed was fully booked. Quote: Publishers Bloomsbury were taken aback by the level of interest this year, describing it as "staggering", but reasoned it was because Ms Rowling "rarely does book signings". Quote: In February last year, Fife schoolboy Matthew Lawson sold his signed first edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second in the sequence, for £3,200 to help fund his university education.
The book had cost £10.99 when his aunt bought it for him in 1998. Source: The Scotsman via Veritaserum. |

That's awesome - now, I'm even more jealous of people who won tickets. Poor JK, her hand is going to be cramped by the end of the day.

Why does everything have to happen in England? I'm so jealous of the people who'll be there. But I hope we get a lot of news here on that.

I don't think many people are willing to spend a ton of money to travel to Scotland to see their favorite author. That's what Diana meant...
It is fair, because she's a British author and everything, but I do wish she'd give more interviews in America. It would sooo nice to see her and maybe one day ask a question...

If only I lived there and could have entered... *sigh*
U know, I wouldn't give away a book signed by JKR. It'd be so personal to me, I'd prefer to have it... Yeah I'm crazy

Thats awesome! How do you get a First Edition book? I dont have one of any of the books. I'm sad that shes not doing anything over here in the States, but I completely understand that she doesnt want to take unnessicary(sp?) risks during her pregnancy. Who ever got a ticket, have fun!! And report back to us!

Same here! If somebody has tickets to go tomorrow, I'll literally pay you to ask some questions about Sirius! ::grovels:: Quote: How do you get a First Edition book? You probably have first edition and don't even realize it. I have the first edition of every book but PS, and I didn't realize it until this year.

If I ever were to meet her Id have Jo sign my First Edition, but I would NEVER dream of selling it, way too personal.

Really if i had a signed copy of HP it would be so amazing. I have pratically every other HP product there is and at least two copies of every book- at least one of each, first edition - but none signed- that would be so brilliant- it isnt bloody fair that i cant go!! lol- lucky for the people who can though- i think i would pass out when she signed my copy if i was them- and i still actually cant believe people would part with a signed copy! they must be barking mad!! and i doubt she coming to America any time soon for signings or readings- She based mostly here in Europe and stays in the U.K., Scotlland area. we all know she has very much british pride!

Oh my God...I wanna go...I wanna go...I wanna go  . But sadly even if I did win a ticket I wouldn't have been able to go as I live n Pakistan. I even have a Order f the Pheonix first edition. I had it airmailed to me the very day it came out. But not that I'm interested in the money or anything. And anyway my book is kindof really collapsed as I have read it only a million times. Oh man...I so want to go  :/
