| | |  JK's cousin on 'Lie Detector' tonight
Ben Rowling, the cousin of J.K.Rowling who claims he was the inspiration for Harry Potter, will tonight be appearing on PAX-TV's 'Lie Detector'. He will be on the show to try and prove that his claims are genuine.
Entertainment Weekly have a small preview of the show which can be seen here.
The show will air on PAX, TV-PG TONIGHT at 9:00PM.
However, Jo Rowling has consistently denied his claims, once via her website: Quote:
"Once more I put fingers to keyboard to state wearily that Harry is a completely imaginary character. He is not based on any of the men I have met during my lifetime who wore glasses, or any of the boys who had a scar somewhere on their face, or any of my friends who went to boarding school."
Unfortunately and depressingly, these sorts of stories crop up all the time (see my 'Biography'). There is nothing any author can do to stop people claiming that they 'inspired' characters. I can only tell the truth and trust that readers with a grain of sense will know whom to believe."

That’s so stupid; if he really believes that he is the inspiration for Harry Potter the test will come out positive but that doesn't mean it's true! If you want the real truth you would need JKR to do the test, though I doubt she would lower herself to such measures.

Its so stupid. For one thing, he is getting lots of attention for it, and another, lie detectors dont always work. But I dont think many people care anyway. I believe JK where she says that Harry Potter is an original, made up character.

Geeze. Sometimes it almost makes you not want to publish anything you write because of all the people that will try and claim that it is their's. I can't stand people who feel the need to lie about something in order to become well known. I mean who would know better about where they got their inspiration from other than the writer themselves? I don't think lie detectors are the best way to tell however. People can learn how to control their heart beats easily these days. At a tennis tournament I was at they showed you how to control your heart rate and make it relaxed and normal.

At last some real thinking, anyone can escape through a lie detector, it doesn't mean it's called a lie detector that it can detect a lie, these things could go wrong and if that Ben guy is calm enough that lie detector will see him as telling the truth!!!
I don't trust the lie detector if it comes out to say that Ben is the inspiration for the Potter books, JKR said it's rubbish and he still says he is the inspiration...what an idiot!!!
