CBBC Newsround has, as always, come to the rescue to put all those rumors to rest!
They've once again managed to get in contact with JK's agents to confirm that J.K.Rowling hasn't yet finished writing Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and that when she does, we'll mostly find out via her official website. Quote:
That's led fans to wonder if Book Six isn't far away, but her agents say: "The book is not yet finished."

Her agency manages relations between her and her different publishers, and they would be the first people to be told when the book is completed.
They also help co-ordinate the process in the run up to an announcement.
They've also added this little snippet about the OotP release: Quote:
Book Five was finished and delivered in December 2002, and then read by a tiny number of people at her main publishers.
And then on 15 January 2003 fans first learnt that the book had been completed and that it would be released in June 2003.

I actually like waiting...why does everyone want to rush through it when we're so near the end? Makes no sense to me. I'd much rather wait and have a great book than have it early and not so great.

Oh good. I'd rather have a nice, long, detailed book and wait a long time than have a short, not very detailed book and wait for only a while.

i def don't mind waiting for the book, as with all of them its always worth it and at the end of the day Em is right, i dont really want it to end! its going to be strange, once we know everything, it'll all be over and i enjoy everything that goes with the books as much as the books themselves, so if the series ends then all that does too, so take your time Jo, but not tooooooo long k??!

I thought it wouldn't be too near in the future, however this might sound stupid but I'm a little sad that it'll come out sometime in the future because it's sad realizing that the series is almost at an end. We will find out whether Harry lives or dies and it makes me sad and eager. I know it does sound stupid but doesn't anyone else feel this way?
I'm glad they cleared that rumor up, it's been haunting me for a while...
