Back in March, we called upon you to vote for our favorite author, J.K. Rowling, in the Book Magazine 'Greatest Living British Writer' poll. The voting ended on April 30th and it has been announced that J.K. Rowling has won this honor and gathered three times as many votes as the second place winner, fantasy writer Terry Pratchett. Quote:
Christine Kidney, editor of The Book Magazine, said: "Our survey provides a fascinating insight into what the British public thinks makes a 'great' writer.
"It shows how a writer can connect with us, as if we were the only reader in the world, and it's why books prove to be such enduringly popular objects."

see, while I love JK, I'm not sure I would agree with that poll. Ian McEwan is an amazing writer- he does stuff with his literature, that JK could only dream of. the thing is, his stuff is sometimes too complex and unique for people to like him. I totally recomend everyone read his book Atonement it is amazing. | |
