JKR buys an expensive swimming pool -

Summary:
JKR is splashing out £500,000 on a Swimming Pool at her country mansion.

Article:

Article from todays News Of The World Newspaper.

Quote:
Wealthy JK Rowling has splashed out £500,000 on a unique coppwr-domed Swimming Pool complex at her country mansion.

The writer has already dipped into her £435million fortune and begun building on of the country's bigest private pools after landing planning permission.

Plans were submited to Perth and kinross Council at the end of last year seeking the go-ahead for major improvments to her Killiechassie Estate, near Aberfeldy, Perthshire.

The indorr pool will be 60ft long and nearly 30ft wide, flanked by private changing cubicles.

The most spectacular part of the complex is will be the roof, which is to be dome-shapped and made from copper.

No expense will be spared on the 100ft-long building so it appeares in keeping with the stone-built house next door - which JK bought for £600,000 in 2001.

A Perth and kinross Council sopurce said: "She is spending top dollar on the work - no one could complain about it.

gosh! that’s an awful lot of swimming pool for 2 adults and 2 and a half kids! We got a 15ft upright pool the other day for £200 and that fine (unless you are planning on becoming a professional swimmer)...it easily entertains up to 10 large hyperactive teenagers :sorcerer:

though she is such a nice lady, maybe she'll hire it out to an orphanage

I live in America - so I can't really figure out how much exactly she's spending on the pool, but that seems amazing. I love swimming - I'm so jealous. I'm glad for her though: she earned her money and she gives to charity so she deserves whatever she gets.

What wouldn't you give to be one of her kids?

Hey, writers can have a pool, too! That's really cool that she now has a pool, but it's a little on the expensive side. But, hey, it's her money! She can do what ever she wants with it.

That seems a bit too frivulous for JK. I'm not too sure if this is real, or whether the details are exaggerated. I mean, it's an awful lot to waste on just a pool...houses cost that much these days in the UK, well, nice decent houses come near £300,000 anyways...family ones I mean. Or, at least, they will be by the time I buy one.

Cool...I know if I were rich I would buy an indoor pool kind of like that but mine would extend from inside into the outdoors through an underwater tunnel into an outdoor pool complete with waterfall. Yeah I fantasize a lot about being rich! Sad isn't it. Anyways, wonder if this has anything to do with Hermione's patronous being an otter. Otters do love to swim and obviously so does Jo.

I don't mind swimming if the water is warm; my brother and sister are always telling me, "C'mon, jump in, it's warm!" when the water is like, 60 degrees. The water has to be at least in the 90's in order for me to go near a poor, lol. I'm happy for her  ; she deserves it after all the labor she's put into her work, and at the same time, have to take care of her children. :sorcerer:
