| | | JK talks about Live Aid
We reported yesterday that J.K.Rowling would be featured in programmes about Live Aid, which were airing last night. A transcript of what she said, has now been produced. Quote:
"I'd been a fan of the Boomtown Rats from the beginning. I was annoyed when I went to see them in concert as everyone was there to worship at the shrine of Saint Bob, and rightly so, rightly so....[laughing] I was just annoyed because I'd been a fan from the very beginning!"
"He [Bob Geldof] was just brilliant. He just stood up in front of everyone and said [referring to the then state of aid in Africa], "This is wrong!". "
"I remember staking out the television and saying "well, no-ones coming near it". So my memory of watching Live Aid was on a beautiful and brilliantly sunny summer's day in South Wales."
"Everyone remembers where they were on the day of Live Aid. Everyone remembers who they watched it with. It's one of those pegs for you to hang your memories upon."
Jo also talked about how everyone was so eager to see Bob Geldof perform on the day; everyone wanted to see the man behind it all, the man who'd made it all possible.
She also commented on his performance, referring to when he stopped 2/3's of the way through the song after the line, 'today is the day to learn how to die' and how that lyric suddenly took on a whole new meaning.
Rowling also recounted the feeling of wanting to give money to the cause, but not knowing exactly how, wondering where to send the money to.
Twenty years after the original events, several Live 8 concerts will take place around the world on July 2nd, to promote the 'Make Poverty History' campaign. To show your support for the cause, please go here.

Jo does so much to help other will the rewards she's gained from HP. She is selective in her causes but she goes an extra mile when she does dip into those pockets of hers. She's a good example for all to give back to their communities, their cities, their country and their world.

| I watched it last night also and I found it rather funny. I liked the part at the end where they all had to say something about Bob Geldof and most things were rather abusive. Quote:
"Everyone remembers where they were on the day of Live Aid. Everyone remembers who they watched it with. It's one of those pegs for you to hang your memories upon."
Apart from Elton John and Status Quo. They said they couldnt remember a single thing about Live Aid. Of course I think it was due to the fact that those were the days when they were all intoxicated with drugs. I could admit Elton John did look rather disorientated by the end. When they were singing Feed The World he looked like he was going round hugging everyone. I would of loved to watch it but too bad I wasnt born.

| Pretty, pretty Princess EEP! Alert!
Jo is so brilliant about this sort of stuff, it shows that the fame from writing the HP books hasn't gone to her head!
My friend won tickets to the London Live8 Concert, so I might get him to take some pictures for me to see as I'll be on a plane when the concert is going on I think!

| I can't wait to watch the Live Aid concert. It's nice that she is sharing her memories with those watching the concert and helping out in any way she can.

Live Aid was awesome - i wish i was alive at the time to experience but alas- born 2 yrs too late...ah well. my favorite band is U2 and live Aid in 1985 is apparently where they were truly given the lift off so thats wat i remember the most about it. And also i remember they re-aired parts of it on tv recently and i loved when Let it be was sang at the end i believe. must've been an amazing event. Altho it's cool they're bringing it back - i don't think they can top the first one. plus - generally music was better back then.

It should be done secretly.

It was in good fun though. They all love him because he is the way he is. Quote:

I won tickets! (Although they haven't come in the post yet). Geldof apparently said it doesn't matter about tickets now; come anyway. Quote:

She probably is. Just because she isn't advertising the fact, doesn't mean she isn't. The most annoying thing in the world is celebrity's who show off about being charitable.

Live Aid was a big gig which raised over £40million for those suffering from poverty and aids in Africa in 1985. The event is being repeated this year in July.
