'HERE'S LADY HOGWARTS

PM conjures up a peerage for loyal JK
Exclusive by Chris Mclaughlin And Gill Smith
HARRY potter author JK Rowling is to be offered a peerage by Tony Blair.
The writer will be made a baroness in recognition of her contribution to literature.
She is being included on a list of new "working peers" drawn up by Mr Blair to bolster the Government in the House of Lords.
A senior MP who has worked on the list said: "JK Rowling is definitely going to be there, if she agrees. She's a long-standing Labour supporter and would be a very valued member of the Lords."
JK's association with Labour is linked to her close friendship with Chancellor Gordon Brown and his wife Sarah. She was among the first visitors to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary last month when their son John was born.
Mum-of-two Rowling, 38, and Sarah met through their mutual interest in charity work and both worked on projects for the National Council for One-Parent Families, for which JK is an ambassador.
Rowling, who launched the boy wizard in 1997, once survived on just £70 benefits and was forced to take refuge in an Edinburgh cafe to keep warm.
It was there that she penned the first of the Harry Potter stories which would make her world-famous. Her books have been published in more than 40 languages earning her a £300million fortune. Last year alone she earned a staggering £125million from sales of the fifth Potter novel the Order of the Phoenix...'

W0W! Go J.K. Rowling! seriously though, its a bit surreal. I mean, her books, their mind blowingly great, but at the same time, they dont have that weird feeling of detachment, like other well known books. Take any of Shakespears books, or Chauncer, or even Jane Austin's work. They are all well known authors of well known books, like Rowling, but none of them feels as intimate as Rowling's books. It's strange to hear that other people, as well, are aknowledging how great these books are. It's just strange, is all. Harry's world feels like my own and it's strange to hear political figures speaking about it.
Haha, dont get me wrong, however, i also feel strangly proud. Like I do after i force a disbelieving friend into reading the books and finding that they enjoyed them.
Anyways, It's four in the morning. Night!

Hooray for JKR! That's an extreme honor! A bit corrupt in a way, picking her because she's a national icon and a Labour supporter (by chance, of course). But still. I would love to be made a baroness!

Hogwarts RPG Name: Marcella Riddle Graduated | Kaplinski Rival Sorting Hat Machine Quote: Labour supporter (by chance, of course). Tony Blair is corrupt now so he cant go any worse. Yes he probably thinks young people will be stupid enough to vote Labour because JK will be a member of parliament for them, but I'm sorry they dont pull the wool over my eyes.

Mind you, I dont think JK is stupid enough to not know she is being used in that way. It said in the Mirror article that she even had her doubts because of the war in iraq and her anti-war stance on that. But she needs to do this for single mother's rights.

I cant believe she got the title, Baroness though, how old fashioned is that? Next they'll be announcing her running for PM. |
