| | | JK Rowling's $1m magic weekend - her earnings from PoA Summary:
The Scotsman reports on her pay packet from the latest film's opening weekend. Article: JK Rowling's $1m magic weekend
As the money keeps on rolling in from cinemas, not even all around the globe, JK's pockets become fuller. 'Prisoner of Azkaban', the third installment in the Potter series, hasn't even been released everywhere in the world yet but it has still made over £20 million in the UK alone, smashing not one but two British Records. The Scotsman has a feature on how this is set to affect Jo as the films continue to be made and the franchise grows both bigger and stronger. Quote: THE fairytale of JK Rowling’s path to wealth entered a new chapter over the weekend as box-office receipts for Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban smashed all records - earning her an estimated $1 million.* Quote: On this basis, the Edinburgh-based writer, who has already amassed a personal fortune estimated to be in the region of £500 million, has so far netted in excess of £543,000 from the third film. Quote: Analysts have marvelled at the rapid growth of Ms Rowling’s wealth. Researchers for The Sunday Times rich list could find only eight people in Britain who had expanded their fortune more rapidly.*
Lucinda Praine, a book to film agent with the William Morris agency, in London, said that the success of the Harry Potter series had been "unprecedented" and that she saw no reason why it should not continue.* Quote: "For a book to be successfully converted into a film, it needs a strong context and a very strong narrative. With Harry Potter it works very well because, not only had no-one ever done it before, it combined a school fantasy with magic fantasy which has captured everyone's imagination.*
"I can’t imagine the success of the films failing. Her audience is growing with her but she is also getting a new audience with every book that is published."* Quote: "I guess audiences everywhere are still crazy about Harry," said Dan Fellman, the head of distribution for Warner Bros, the studio behind the franchise based on Ms Rowling’s fantasy series.* Quote: Results for the third film in the UK were extraordinary. As of Sunday, the picture had amassed £23.7 million from 535 sites, setting new UK marks for the biggest single day and it is projected to gross the biggest ever seven-day total on £40 million.* Source: The Scotsman via Mugglenet |

That has so much potential! We need to add an evil potions mater though, just to be different.

We spent time here. We made friends here. That's a part of us.
Cause Hogwarts is bigger than any of us, of any of it's founders,
and it's going to be around long after we're gone.
Maybe we'll see our kids come here one day.
That's the thing about Hogwarts.
No matter how long you're away from it, there's always a way back. |

Whoa, that is alot of money, but it's true with what they said about capturing everyone's imagination because everyone can relate in one way or another, except with the magic of course, because they are still at school and still having issues that teenagers go through, the magic is an added bonus - the woman is a genius!
