| | |  JK Rowling honoured at South Bank Show awards (UPDATE #3)
The BBC is reporting that JK Rowling has been honoured for her outstanding work on the Harry Potter books series at the South Bank Show awards, which took place earlier this evening.
The Times Online stated that Jo voiced her feelings on the ending of the series while on stage to receive her award, saying that, "It has been the worst break-up of my life - far worse than splitting up with any man." She also reminisced about how it felt to finish the series: "But it has also been wonderful to stop and draw breath and think, 'My God, look what's happened with an idea I had 17 years ago on a train.'"
Jo talks about how she separated the Harry Potter universe in her mind from the books being sold around the world: Quote: |
"There has always been a real disconnection in my mind between the fictional world in which I've spent so many hours and what the printed books were doing in the real world... although I absolutely noticed the royalty cheques coming in."
| When asked if she would write another Harry Potter book and what her next writing project is, Jo said: Quote:
"I think I've definitely finished his story. I said seven books and there have been seven," she said.
The author is already working on her next project, although she would not be drawn on its subject: "I am writing, it's a compulsion with me. I'm not in a mad hurry to publish because I've had 10 years of deadlines."

and although I would have wanted another book, I think she's doing the right thing of stopping with 7. just leave it at that and let other people come up with what they think happens after the story.
And as for her writing, she's right to pace herself. no more hurrying too much to satisfy us crazed fans! |
