From Edinburgh University Today. Article: Quote: JK Rowling, the creator and author of the Harry Potter series of children's books, is to receive an honorary degree from Edinburgh University today.
Rowling has written a lot of her work in the Scottish capital where she lives with her husband and two children.
She also completed a teacher-training course in 1996 at Moray House in Edinburgh.
The author is to collect the degree of doctor honoris causa, which is one of the university's highest accolades.
Rowling said: "I am delighted and honoured to be receiving an honorary degree from the University of Edinburgh, my adopted home city." JK, who lives in Edinburgh, will be presented with the degree at 3.15pm. Update: more information from after the ceremony, Quote: Receiving this honorary degree is a particular pleasure," said JK.
"To receive such a tribute from the city I now call home, and to be in such distinguished company, means a lot to me," she added. Speaking straight after the ceremony, JK gave a little hint about what might happen in the last book. She was asked if Harry would graduate in Book VII . She paused before replying: Quote: "If I answer that I give quite a lot away, so I'm not going to!" also included was this pic of JK Rowling taken today,

Good for JK! I don't doubt that she will be "knighted" by the queen and become Dame JK Rowling. That would be awesome for her.

That's fantastic! JK Rowling clearly deserves it. And it would be great if she were to be knighted. "Dame Jo Rowling" doesn't sound so bad now, does it. And that whole thing about whether Harry will graduate makes me think that Harry's going to die. With the response she gave, her having to think about it before answering, and how Dan thinks Harry will die, it all comes to the conclusion that the two people who know Harry best (the creator and the person who's in Harry's head for a living) say he's going to die. Maybe that's what we should expect...
