One of the first reporters to ever interview JK Rowling back in 1997 has an article reminiscing their meeting with the Harry Potter author on the 10 year anniversary of the release of Philosopher's Stone! Fans, who were considerably younger a decade ago, discuss their memories. Quote:

Wow! 10 years! That is a long time!!
This decade seemed very short! 
But in a few weeks its all going to be over,the waiting in line for hours,the suspense that kept us on our toes like 24/7,that excitement that never seemed to go away that you could explain but was always there(well at least for me anyways).
Man it just seriously hit me that its really over!

It's amazing how long it's been. And hardly anyone thought the story would be a successful one.
I don't think there's a literary work with such success ever!

Wow this is crazy...I remember I started reading the books when they first came out and I was 6...now i'm 16...how weird...I would have never even thought ten years ago that I would be this crazy and obsessed with Harry Potter and that it would be one of the biggest parts of my life...wow...

10 years ago, I was only 1...so there was no way I could have afforded the book at that time. But I have it right now, glad that I do, and will keep loving Harry Potter even if 10 years pass from now.

OH MY I FEEL OLD! hah I remember when they first started being big in canada, hah I was about 7 years old, and we had a fairy tale themed day in our class, and everyone brought in these cheesy little fairy tales, and one boy brought in the first two harry potter books. I came in late and we had a "reading time" and I was stuck with the harry potter book. and I was ****** off and only pretended to read it hah. so that was my first encounter with harry potter hah I thought it was a kinda cool story. I did get hooked on the books the summer following that fairy tale day
