| | | JK donates magical gift to needy school The pride of Northern Ireland has an interesting article about how JK donated books to a school in Larne which was under threat of closure. Quote:
All five books about Hogwart's most magical student signed by author JK Rowling are to go under the hammer in Larne Town Hall on November 17 and 18 from 10.00am-12.30pm to raise funds for Antiville Primary School.
Quote:
Parents' association secretary Samantha Robinson said she was "too choked to speak" when the books arrived.
"It was my husband William's idea that the auction should include children's books and he suggested JK Rowling.
"I didn't think anyone so famous would support a Northern Ireland school, I was too choked to speak when they came," she said.
Quote:
"I just wouldn't want to separate them, so they will be sold as one lot," said Mrs Robinson.
"We heard that a first edition, which wasn't signed by the author, reached £1,500, so a reserve of £1,000 has been put on them."
"The parents' association, politicians, community leaders and Larne Borough Council are all behind the school 100 per cent.
"It would be very upsetting if Larne was to lose what is an important educational and community facility with exceptional resources," she said.
Quote:
"The school is in dire financial straits," he said.
"It was built for around 100 pupils and numbers have gone steadily down. "No decision on its future has been taken as yet, the process is still at the consultation stage," he said.

| In Love with Touz | | Lil Mikky-Mu I love to hear of rich people doing good and doing something to help rather than just going "Tsk, that's too bad"... and it certainly isn't the first, or last, time we've heard or will hear of Ms. Rowling doing good deeds. She does it for both big and small causes and very quietly. *cheers*

| Thats so cool. I live in Larne and I think that it is amazing what J.K Rowling has done for the school. I never went to the school as I went to the school beside it. I think its was a great thing for the community when I first heard of it and finally where I live is getting a bit of publicity. Wen I first heard of it I was thinking of going to the auction to watch how much it goes off for but i realised I cant becasue i'll be in school doing exams. When harry potter publicity comes to Larne I cant even take part in it due to stupid school. One thing is I hope the person that buys them is actually someone who likes the books and not just a collector. |

That makes me really happy. I look up to Mrs. Rowling so much because she's such an awesome person. She doesn't let her fame get the best of her, which is a very hard thing to do.
