Default Jean-Pierre Jeunet will not direct OotP film

We earlier reported that Jean-Pierre Jeunet had been offered the job of directing 'Order of the Phoenix', the fifth Potter film in the series. Le Parisien (a French Magazine) is now reporting that the director has decided to decline the offer made to him by Warner Brothers.

Quote:
When asked what future projects he had, he replied "Warner offered me Harry Potter five but I had to decide in two weeks. I've told them 'No, thanks'."
As final as this all sounds, there's still been no real solid confirmation from WB as to whether this is true or not.

Well, I would rather have a person who wholeheartedly wants to do it and will put their best into it, rather than just do it because its so famous..

I like Jeunet, but I'm glad he's not directing OotP. I don't think his style would have fit the series, specifically the fifth book.

I know it's been mentioned many times before, but I'd love to see Tim Burton direct. I doubt he'd accept the offer, but I think he'd be terrific. Sam Mendes or Christopher Nolan would be my other top choices.

oh well i'm not too bothered. whoever does it will make a good job because they have to because they would get in such trouble off fans etc if they made a rubbish film lol

Their really pushing to get a director for Ootp, aren't they? They haven't even wrote the screen play yet. Or at least that's what we think.

I'm glad he didn't get it. He didn't seem like he was that interested in it anyways. Don't get a director thats not going to put their heart into making the film. I guess he doesn't want to do a "kid" movie about a wizard.

Unfortunately I've never heard of this director. What films has Tim Burton done again? I can't quite remember, could anyone tell me?
