In a new interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, to promote his new movie Good, Jason Isaacs (Lucius) talks about the concept of fandom and corrects a report about why he didn't see Dan Radcliffe in Equus. Quote:
Isaacs, who plays the evil Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter flicks, laughs about his own fan base -- ''a wildly disproportionate group of about maybe 12 sites on the Internet, as opposed to the thousands devoted to Tom Cruise. ... But whatever, it's not Jason or Viggo they're obsessed with -- it's the characters we play.''

Thanks to the enormous success of the Potter films, Isaacs has become close to Daniel Radcliffe, and he wanted to correct a widely reported Internet story ''that was due to a stupid joke I told at the Toronto Film Festival.''
Isaacs was quoted as saying he wouldn't go see Radcliffe on Broadway in ''Equus'' because he thought the idea of seeing Harry Potter naked was twisted.
''Total rubbish. I missed seeing Daniel in 'Equus' in London because I was doing [the Showtime series] 'Brotherhood,' and now I'll miss him again because I'm off to Morocco to finish [the movie] 'Green Zone.' ... Of course, I would love to see him in the play.''

I'm a huge fan of most of Jason's work (all right i haven't seen everything he's done) and love the fact that he seems to a big fan of HP as well - regardless that he plays a pivotal role in the series.
He seems to one of the few that will admit and happily accept that we love the characters they bring to life - and not necessarily the person portraying that character.
it's not surprising that he would have seen EQUUS except for other committments. To the casual observer it's encouraging how the experienced actors such as Jason, Richard Griffiths, etc have supported the newcomers (most of which will probably remain unknown to the general public) as they develop as people and performers.

Oh, Jason, we love you!  Thanks for setting the facts straight. I'm really glad that he enjoys portraying his character, it's always good to hear an actor or actress feel so positively about what they do.

As I've said before, the producers make sure that they get the best British actors to play characters in the Harry Potter films. So far, they've done well. I still do miss Richard Harris as Dumbledore. He was a true original and I've always pictured Dumbledore in JK's books as Richard Harris. Oh well.
