| | | J.K.Rowling updates website with Halloween treat! J.K.Rowling appears to have once again opened that infamous door. LupinJr (a member here) has kindly informed me about the update.
If you go to the page with the "Do not disturb" door and wait for Peeves to fly by. You'll soon lots of keys flying around, drag some to the door and try to find the right one to open it. We then get a bird's eye view of JK's desk.
(Follow the instructions in the post below to see what to do on the desk) SCREENCAP OF THE KEYS
The following names appear on it (SPOILERS - HIGHLIGHT TO VIEW): Spinner's End
Draco's Detour
Felix Felicis
These sound like chapter names to me, especially the second. The first sonds like it might've once been previously used in CoS. They could all be chapter names for HBP. The last sounds morelike a character name to me however JK has been known to name chapters after characters before ie; Luna Lovegood.
Courtesy of miss_sweetheart we now have screencaps of the information revealed: Chapter 2 - SPINNERS END Chapter 6 - DRACO'S DETOUR Chapter 14 - FELIX FELICIS
Source: J.K.Rowling. |

| How to solve the puzzle...
Hey everyone,
Okay, if you are interested in solving the puzzle yourself please don't read on, but if you need some help then check it out below: SPOILERS BELOW (highlight to view) Click on the scrunchie (hair tie) on the main screen to go to a wooden door. The ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign has vanished. You now must play the waiting game, this takes about four or five minutes before Peeves will fly past and knock over the flowerpot. Some keys fly outr and will soar around the door, ready snitchseekers? you grab the keys by clicking on them and drag them to the door. It may take some time but eventually you will get the right key and the door will open. You then see a birds-eye view of JK Rowling’s working desk. You click on the handle to the draw and pull it open. Inside you will see a magnified glass, drag it over to the brown folder on her desk. You will be able to read what it says, it’s a riddle. At the end of it you must type in ‘CHAPTERS’. The puzzle will vanish and the folder will reveal itself, it is the file JK is keeping ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ in. Pull on the papers sticking out of the top and you will be able to read the chapter titles… Chp 6 – Draco’s Detour Chp 2 – Spinners End Chp 14 – Felix Felicis Time to speculate!

Fifth | Felix Felicus: possibly the HBP?
OMG, this is hard. You have to find the right key to put in the door and their hard to catch.
For some reason I can't pull it open.

The British version of the site was just right this minute updated so everyone in the UK should be able to do this from now.
Thanks for the lowdown Will. I do believe we are the very first site to have this news!

| NOTE -- If your version still has the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on it then you need to shut the window and re-open it. Also JK has been known in the past to open the door to different continents at different times. I am using the Australian (classified as Oceania on most computers) so if you are from Europe, Africa, America etc. and are having trouble then you may have to wait. Although it's odd because JK normally updates Europe before us Australians!
EDIT: Ah, Emma just said it's working now so I guess it was just a time thing. It's great to hear we are the first website, we could be some of the first people to read this in the world, feel very, very lucky people!

How long does it take for Peeves to come by? Do you have to do something to make him come?
*sits here like a lemon*
EDIT: Oh and Thank you for the tip off. It's so great being the first people to know! Emma have you been able to do it too? Because that should mean i can ...

Sorry, you do have to wait for Peeves. It's better to know that because I was sitting there for five minutes clicking at the door trying to get it open before Peeves went past and I relised we were meant to wait.

Seeing as you have it open, see if you can see anything else on that desk of hers. Like in the rubbish bin section there's a chart with names on it and stuff. You never know what hints you can pick up from this site.

Don't you just love Halloween. Knowing the chapter titles only makes you wonder more! It's torture.
If anybody can zoom in good without it being fuzzy, then print the screen and do it. I guess if you have Photoshop you can. When I try, you can't see anything.

Wow, I just remembered when JK released the name of the sixth book. I was lucky enough to be the person who wrote the article for that one, I must have some kind of sixth sense for this thing! Either that or really good timing.
Also I just checked and the guys over at CoS Forum's have solved it too, not sure who was first though... Quote:

Well I saw that the sign had vanished and I knew it was halloween so I just put two and two together.
I tried clicking every square inch of the place and thats the only secret. Thanks Ms Rowling!

Aaargh the sign is back to haunt me. *curses Peeves*
Ph and did you know Oceania is the name for the US, UK and Australia in '1984' by George Orwell. It was a predictive text. That's rather interesting.
The sign is back to haunt me, what's the URL to the Aussie version?

Keep trying! You can do it, just hold on to that key and drag it to the door, I know it's hard but the key is determination. (not the actualy key, it's a methaphor!)

Now the sign's gone again. Me thinks they're having trouble updating because kids are swamping the site. Darn us avid fans!

haha. Good thing I came before. For the keys, just click a million times in the center and try from there. It didn't take long for me when I did that.

Chapter name spoilers below, just for the warning... Spinners End - Hmm, sounds to me like a death in the second chapter? Or maybe Harry will leave the Dursley by some kind of magical instrument called a 'spinner', like floo powder you spin. But then you stop at the end, or maybe he goes on a spinning path that at the end is the base of the Order?? Draco's Detour - This is set around the time of heading to Hogwarts, maybe Draco is orded by his father to take the Hogswart Express on a detour to send Harry and his friends into Voldemort's grasp? Or maybe they miss the train because of Draco and are lead on another way to the castle? Felix Felicus - it could be the new DADA teacher, but chp 16 seems a little late to introduce him or her, because normally its a few weeks in or even Christmas by chapter 16? How long would HBP be if the DADA teacher is introduced in chp 16? So it is maybe the HBP. Most probably that lion looking person...
