MTV has further quotes from J.K.Rowling's U.S. Open Book Tour in which she talks about the senseless murder of Dobby the House Elf in Deathly Hallows. Quote:
“I suppose you could say very prosaically that Dobby had to die so he couldn’t tell Harry who had sent him,” Rowling explained, referencing Aberforth Dumbledore, Albus’s brother who Harry doesn’t learn about until much later on in the novel. “But that’s not why. For me, Dobby’s death woke Harry up to what he was doing.”

“[Dobby was] someone that was very vulnerable and really entirely guiltless in anything concerned with the wizarding world – who wasn’t even a wizard,” Rowling said. “It was another senseless murder in the same way that Cedric Diggory’s death was senseless, purely because they were there. There's still no word on whether Dobby will make it into the Half-Blood Prince film. | |

Oh they should put him in HBP.  I imagine all the producers having to put all the characters that are going to die in the DH movie. 
There was sad music going on in the TV miles away in the house just as I was reading JKR's quotes. Nice article. She should talk more

It makes sense when you are trying to make a charachter see what is needed to be seen to do what the charachter must do. And I think JK was right in putting Dobby to rest.
and i agree with most of you, Bring Dobby back!! he's going to bee needed for Movie seven any way and why not add him in at least a small scene in HBP!!!

So to me Dobby was annoying forever until HBP when I thought he was so loveable for beating Kreacher ... he won I don't care what it says ... and I did think his death was senseless and tragic. I cried when I read it ... *sniffles* I love Dobby.

They should put him in, he's my favorite elf! He's the only one who ever really loved Harry, creature wise. He showed Harry so much about creature rights and how much they were treated horribly. He NEEDS to be in HBP, he just has too! He died to show Harry true love in a way, that's how I see it...

I cried soooo much when Dobby died! If they don't put Dobby in the sixth movie, people who haven't read the books will have no feelings for him when he dies cause they didn't really get the feeling of attachment and they have to know him better. They have to put him in HBP or else theres just no point of putting him in DH! | |

It is sad when Innocent people die....but why did it havce to be Dobby?
