I just always saw Harry and Hermione as bland together. Never ever did it cross my mind while reading the books that they would end up together. NEVER! I still will always ship Harry/ Ginny and Ron /Hermione.
Also think about this. Harry decides on Hermione after dating Ginny. Breaks her heart. Ron who is already protective of Ginny will be upset. Then Harry wants Hermione, who Ron loves. Yeah I can not see that happening.

I think sometimes J.K. Rowling just gets bored and then goes around messing with her fans and dropping emotional bombs on the shippers.

I know right! Just last week she talked about Hermione and Harry and how they should've ended up together and now Ginny and Harry. I feel like we should keep a running game of what ship she's going to mess with next -is joking, of course-

Unrelated to this post, I feel like Ron's being left out. I want to see who he's going to get shipped with. Maybe Ron and Luna.... or Ron and Lavender ... okay Ronmione

Yeah I felt the same way when she did her big 'announcement' about Dumbledore. Sometimes I think she should just leave her characters alone! Especially if she's not writing any more about them.

In my first post here I laid it out. Ron is the glue to this puzzle. If he breaks up with Ginny to go after Ron, the glue will fall apart and well there goes our happily ever after in the epilogue.

This is nothing new. J.K Rowling has always been behind and supported Harry and Ginny.
What she said about Hermione and Harry was solemnly from Hermione view point.
And it was also only is "some ways".

YES. I just agree with all of that.

I like Ginny, but she was never really on my favorite characters list. To me she seemed to be a little too quick on switching boyfriends and at a very early age at that. Most people are lucky if they have dated one person by the age of 17, but she ended up dating three. So...yeah, I don't see her in dire need of a husband.

It's to spice up excitement for Fantastical Beasts and Where to Find Them. Make people passionate again.

i have often wondered if behind closed doors fellow authors/ publishers talk to her about things like character development, because there is more to a "shipping" perspective to the Are you sure it should've been Ron and Hermione? type question. i mean she can say what she wants to say in front of the press, but for folks within the industry its a little harder to defend/ dodge questions like that because they know what it takes to create believable characters/ plots/ relationships.

and now here she goes with Harry and Ginny. i LOVE Ginny's character but i do feel she's a bit of a cop-out with her ending up with Harry because basically she's him in female form. which to some people that would make her perfect. but i dunno, to me it would be a better ship if couples would be less mirror-images and more complementary (meaning they have similarities but also a distinctiveness from each other.)

funnily enough, had Ron not been related to Ginny i think they would be a good match. i mean Ginny is already Harry in female form, and we already know the fantastic bromance between Harry and Ron.

Actually I think she might only be saying this to get fans attention and to get the emotion and excitement levels back up for Fantastical Beasts to what they were when the books were still coming out. Canon is canon, but you never know when a time turner might show up...

On another note, Rowling said that it would have been more logical for Harry to end up with Hermione, but by that reasoning it is also more logical for Draco Malfoy to end up Pansy and for Luna to end up with Neville. Love has everything to do with emotion and really nothing to do with logic. That's the fun thing about it. She even admitted that the only reason Malfoy didn't end up with Pansy was because Pansy was based on some girls who used to bully her at school and that Malfoy was better than her. Personally, I think joining the Death Eaters is maybe a bit worse than teasing Hermione.

JKR is just trying to placate all. I personally never saw Harry at all with Hermione. I always love the Harry/Ginny relationship. Ginny was like his dad, Her self-confidence was there and she knew more than anyone that it was Harry who needed to realize it. He loved his girl Ginny. Ginny was all woman he needed!

well she sure got the attention she gotta be careful about these bombshells though and that it doesnt undermine the franchise she already built. besides if she wants to drum up press for Fantastic Beasts she could pull a Moffat and say a lot of stuff that would never show up in the screenplay #RowlingLies

i think what she meant by more logical was in the context of storytelling/ character development, since she mentioned that the Ronmione end game was a wish fulfillment on her part.

I was under the impression that she didn't explicitly say Harry and Hermione should have been together, but rather Ron was a bad choice for Hermione.

But I'm glad Harry loved Ginny.
