J.K.Rowling was interviewed on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross this evening. The following are the highlights from her appearance.
- Bob Hoskins (also a guest on the show) was asked why he hasn't been in a Potter film yet. Jo implied there was a part in Deathly Hallows he could possibly play. Although personally I think he'd make an awesome Slughorn.
- Finishing book 7 was a release as she's been writing for 17 years.
- Will never see writing for children as second best.
- The epilogue wasn't kept in a safe - she kept losing it. It has been changed - specifically 2 unplanned deaths but contrary to media interpretation that isn't a definitive death toll.
- Her husband was glad to see Cedric die.
- She had to establish boundaries as to what magic can and can't do - specifically in relation to death.
- Her husband is her own family member to have read book 7.
- Feels parental toward Dan, Rupert & Emma. Thinks it was a hell of an achievement to keep the films as British as they are.
- The last word in Deathly Hallows is no longer "scar". She won't reveal the last word.
- She was euphoric and devastated to finish. She howled after writing a particular chapter and downed half a bottle of champagne in a hotel, going home with mascara over her face.
- Book 7 is a clear end. It's unlikely she will write anymore stories about the world, but won't say definitely not as she may feel different in the future. UPDATE: A video of the interview can be seen here thanks to Mugglenet!  | |

Oooh, I watched the interview, it was pretty good, even if nothing about big about DH was said.  I burst out laughing when Jonathon Ross asked if Dobby was based on Gary Lineker.

It was such a great interview. Bob Hoskins should definitely get to be in a HP film. He would be great as Slughorn.
