Post J.K. Rowling considered making Hufflepuff's Horcrux a cauldron, not cup
J.K. Rowling admitted, while writing a history of cauldrons for Pottermore's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince chapter, that she considered making Hufflepuff's Horcrux a cauldron, and not the golden, two-handled cup that did appear in the final two books.

I'm glad that it was a cup instead of a Cauldron, that would've been a pain to carry! Besides I don't see Helga Hufflepuff with a Cauldron, Idk maybe it's just me!
