| | |  J.K. Rowling confirms she will not write another Harry Potter book again
At a press conference in London today to reveal Pottermore.com, J.K. Rowling announced officially that she has completed her run on writing new books on Harry Potter or the wizarding world, and will not write any kind of sequel to the seven-book saga.  Quote:
“I do have closure with Harry,” Rowling told reporters in London at the launch of www.pottermore.com. “I have no plans to write another novel. I'm pretty sure I'm done on the novel front … But it was fun while it lasted.”
On the beginning of Pottermore: Quote:
“It is my view you can't hold back progress,” Rowling said of the electronic launch.
“Ebooks are here and here to stay. Later than a lot of people, I for the first time downloaded ebooks and it's miraculous for travel and for children in particular. I feel great about taking Harry into this new medium.”
"It's a great way to get back to the Harry Potter readership," she told reporters. "I had more than half of the new material already written."
'I wanted to give something back to the fans that have followed Harry so devotedly over the years, and to bring the stories to a new digital generation.
'I hope fans and those new to Harry will have as much fun helping to shape Pottermore as I have.
'To add to my input into the website, everyone will be able to join in by submitting their own comments, drawings and other content in a safe and friendly environment – Pottermore has been designed as a place to share the stories with your friends as you journey through the site.'
"We knew there was a big demand for ebooks, but...I wanted it to be something more than that," the author explained.
"I wanted to pull it back to the reading, to the literary and story experience...I've had a lot to do with virtually every aspect of it."

sad to hear that she isn't going to write anymore Harry Potter novels but the best thing is that they are on film for the rest of time  i have enjoyed waiting for the books then the films to be released WELL DONE JO! for giving people of all ages in a family something to unite them together.

Yeah, I kinda figured. She's spent so much time on them already, I think it's time for everybody to move on. Of course the books and the movies will always be there to re-read and re-watch a zillion times, but it's good that she's done writing this particular story. Essentially, it's finished and she's happy with it so really that's all that matters. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!

That's all I want. I want backgrounds, and details, and biographies, and layouts... I don't need more Harry as a character. I'm satisfied with his Happily Ever After.

It's sad that she isn't continuing, but she left the books on a pretty conclusive end and writing more would just drag the series out.
I am REALLY looking forward to Pottermore though!

I am glad that she's done with books but I think we will get some more information about Harry Potter world from the Pottermore. Maybe there will be some little additional stories about each character or interesting details. Not a whole book but nevertherless it is something. I hope it.

She just keeps making us wait and wait and wait a little more! Gosh! My news feed on fb is full of disappointed posts! I'm okay with her decision to wait till October though 
While Pottermore sounds fun, JKR not writing another book is a little bit disappointing I would've loved to read a prequel or a sequel to the series (like about the Marauders or what happened to the new generation of kids). I do hope that in the distant future she writes at least an Encyclopedia if not anything else related to HP | |

JKR had mentioned in the past that she would not write another Harry Potter book; however, I thought it possible that she might write some mystery novels that she was rumored to be working on. And what about the HP encyclopedia too? Who knows?! I'm a bit disappointed about this, but it sounds cool too.
