Interview with Edward Randell - actor who was Justin Finch-Fletchely

Summary:
Veritaserum has an interview with Edward Randell

Article:

Interview with Edward Randell

Edward Randell portrayed Justin Finch Fletchely in HP & the CoS. It seems now that he has joined or formed a band and are set to start releasing music! To read the full interview click Here.

Here are the questions relating to HP.

Ed Online: How can you describe you experience?
Edward Randell: Er... once in a lifetime? It really was amazing, I still haven't quite come to terms with it. Though I should say it was quite often dull as hell, because I was so rarely on set.

Ed Online: When and how did you learn that you got the part?
Edward Randell: I've said this already, but it was on holiday, in Mauritius. in a swimming pool.

Ed Online: How was your first day on set?
Edward Randell: extraordinarily scary. I had lines sandwiched in between Kenneth Branagh and Alan Rickman. but everyone wants to put you at your ease and you very quickly befriend the other newcomers.

Ed Online: Describe us your auditions?
I had three. Contrary to what's on your site, that isn't especially few. One was with a casting bod in Edward Randell: London, the second with the director, producer and casting director at Leavesden Studios. At which I had my leg in a plaster cast, which must have made an impression I suppose. The third was at Shepperton Studios and it was properly filmed with lights and me moving around, as opposed to sitting with a plaster leg. There was quite a lot of improvised banter with the director, in character. if anything that was what did it for me because I’d worked on the character quite a bit by rereading the book. I should add that the wait after each audition was unbearable.

Ed Online: In the Chamber of Secrets, you was almost in all the Class scenes…how it was see and be at some feet of such great actors as Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman etc?
Edward Randell: Really special. They were all wonderful to observe, but Ken Branagh and Miriam Margolyes stand out as particularly entertaining.

Ed Online: Did you have the chance to talk to some of the actors on set, like Matthew Lewis, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint or others?
Edward Randell: Absolutely. Matt Lewis in particular, though I haven’t seen him since the film came out. Dan and Rupert were on very different schedules but while I was around them it was good fun.

Ed Online: You were in a Blockbuster...you went to the premiere… PLEASE... tell us how it was… to attend the London premier was surely Awesome… how it was exactly?
Edward Randell: It was Awesome, indeed. The most unbelievable night. Fortunately I had my parents and a friend with me to bring me back down to earth. I remember being in the "red carpet" section and some journalist knew who I was. I couldn't believe it - my answers to the questions he asked were about as coherent as you'd expect. Also, I met J.K. Rowling that night which was a dream. Though I forgot to ask her any of the questions I'd planned.

Ed Online: Have you read all the books… and specially the last one.. you know… The order of the phoenix?
Edward Randell: Yes. all of them. i'm an addict.

Ed Online: Are you a big fan of Harry Potter… I mean, watch all the films again and again… check on the net some Harry Potter Websites… try to know the latest news on the films etc. ?
Edward Randell: A little bit. It's a slightly secret passion. I do try to keep abreast of news regarding the films. but I get told it all by friends anyway.

Ed Online: Since you did the second Hp film, many people surely asked you some questions, which one is the most often asked?
Edward Randell: "How much did you get paid?"

Ed Online: What was your favorite moment on set?
Edward Randell: When at the end of one day Ken Branagh said as he walked past, "Good work today, young man." YESSSS.

Ed Online: Who is your fave Harry Potter Character
Edward Randell: Definitely not Justin. I love a lot of them: Hagrid, Dumbledore, Lupin in particular.

Ed Online: We know that Justin Flinch Fletcher take a break in the third and fourth film… but we know also that he have a big role in the fifth book… he is in the D.A Do you look forward …hum make the fifth film?
Edward Randell: Could I just set this straight... As far as I know I will not be in any further HP films. as for the fifth one, by the time they have whittled an 800-page book into a 100-page screenplay I am sure Justin will be nowhere in sight. sorry. oh and also... it's FINCH-FLETCHLEY. that bugs me.

Ed Online: How long took the filming of Harry Potter.
Edward Randell: my first day of filming was, I think, late November, and my last was mid-July the next year. there was about a month more after that. but of course just as important are the bits before where they write and plan it, and the bits after where they edit it.

Ed Online: How do you react when you see that so many people Like Harry Potter…and some people (the craziest ones) make a website on you?
Edward Randell: I know why so many people like Harry Potter... I’m one of them. I am, however, completely baffled by the website. I just don't understand how anyone would go to that effort based on so little screen time. but I’m honoured.

Where did he say he wasn't happy? I just thought he was being realistically honest. Honesty's always good in an actor
