I can't think of another contemporary composer who has written so much of the music we all know and love. The previous posters named quite a few of his works, but no one mentioned the music for "Superman." John Williams is an incredibly talented person and certainly deserves this award. Actually, he deserves some kind of lifetime award for all the marvelous work he has done.

I really think John Williams should win. He has made some really good soundtracks, especially the Harry Potter ones.

I have the CD and its such a great soundtrack, it makes you feel like you're watch the movie in ur head, its really nice to listen to while going to sleep. I hope he wins, he's such a great composer, he did LOTR, Superman, India Jones, Jaws, and ~dun, dun, dum~ ~the sound of somebreathing through there mouth~ STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!!
HP3 and Star Wars-(all of them) are the best soundtracks ever-very fitting- he should recieve a lifetime achievement award, all of those movies were box office breakers, and who HASN'T seen atleast one of them!?

John Williams is my favorite composer. His work on Star Wars and Indiana Jones was excellient. His score for The Harry Potter movies was very good.
